Keep the Stress Out of Your Move
By Donna Stark
The thought of moving to a new house, town, or even state is exciting, and many people look forward to the fresh start they will be experiencing. But as exciting as that thought can be, moving yourself and your family to someplace new can also be overwhelmingly stressful! And that's exactly what your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic want to talk about. Stress can lead to serious health issues, issues they want you to avoid, so they have listed a few of their favorite recommendations. These tips won't only help the move go more smoothly, they may also help you stay sane and healthy during this hectic time of your life.
Don't Delay
You've got a big task ahead of you, so don't wait until the last minute to start! Give yourself as much time as possible to avoid burning out before the big day rolls around. Start gathering your boxes right away and take the time to organize and donate the things you aren't taking. Once you have that taken care of, you can begin to pack.
Pack in Order
Now that you are ready to pack, start with the things you use the least. This may include out-of-season clothing, books, toys and supplies, or those long-lost items found in the attic and other rooms you don't use as much. The point of packing this way is so you can still live as normally as possible during this transition.
Keep Things Together and Label
It is generally recommended to pack the same type of items together (toys in one box, dishes in another) and to then label the boxes after doing so. Make sure there are plenty of markers lying around so the contents of each box and the room in which they go can be marked. This will make the process of unpacking much easier.
Plan Moving Day
Is your new location close to where you are right now and do you have a lot of strong friends and family members with trucks? If so, you may be able to do this move on your own. But if you are moving to a faraway land or don't have that kind of help, professional movers are the way to go! Take the time to figure out who can help and how much you want to spend on the move before the big days come.
An Easy Move
Moving doesn't need to be full of stress. Just follow the tips above that the chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic suggest and enjoy the entire process! You've got a lot to look forward to!
