Dr. Rafic Alaouie became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2021 when he began serving residents in the suburban Phoenix area, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“I love helping patients use their body’s natural ability to heal,” he says. “It’s especially gratifying to help people who have exhausted all other avenues.”
Dr. Alaouie is married to “an amazing vegan chef” and enjoys photography, running, and reading: “It keeps my mind focused but relaxes me at the same time.”
He worked previously in Detroit, Mich., after getting a doctorate of chiropractic from Life University in Marietta, Ga. Prior to that, he got a degree in biology at Wayne State University in Motown.
He knew chiropractic was his calling when he saw the results of his work: “I was amazed at how people turned around their health without drugs or surgery,” he says.
That validation was furthered with one of his most memorable experiences. “We were able to help a baby of just a few months old avoid tubes in her ears because of a few adjustments that we made”
In Case You Didn’t Know
If Dr. Alaouie could bring together any four people from history to a roundtable, he would invite physicist Albert Einstein, Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi, artist Vincent Van Gough, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs: “These are all amazing minds who have changed the world forever.”
One of the most influential books that Dr. Alaouie has read is Sapiens. “That book really tells the story of how we have evolved into what we have become,” he says. “It’s a great read.”
Some of the best advice he has received is to listen to others -- learn by listening. It has led him to dispense some quality advice of his own: “Never underestimate your full potential."
After graduating from Arizona State with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition, I knew I wanted to continue my education in the health field. I considered nursing school, physical therapy and osteopathic medicine but nothing was in line with my philosophy of health and healing. As fate would have it, while working out, I injured my back and was in desperate need of relief. I found myself in a chiropractic office and to my amazement was up and walking within a couple of visits. My chiropractor shared with me the essence of the chiropractic philosophy was to enable the body’s own innate intelligence to heal itself...no drugs, no side effects, no surgery. Finally, I had found a health system consistent with my philosophy!
Shortly after that, I found myself back in Iowa at Palmer Chiropractic College. Four years of intensive study and an externship trip to Nepal left me with a deep passion and commitment towards helping others in restoring their health.
My vision is to provide life-enhancing chiropractic care to all ages, in an environment which encourages people to embrace greater life expression and continued well-being.
My philosophy is based on the concept that a proactive approach is more sensible than a reactive one. I want to inspire and lead people to be healthier, better human beings, not because they are afraid of, or trying to avoid getting sick, but because they want to be healthy, well and want to get the most out of life!
It is my passion to take care of entire families. Having a specialty in Pregnancy and Pediatrics, I feel it is important for all babies to be checked by a chiropractor after the traumatic birth process. We know that ensuring children’s spine and nervous system are functioning at their best, not only contributes to their overall growth and development, but will produce a much healthier adulthood. Families who make choices for proactive health care are teaching their children that their health is a valuable asset. Young or old, everyone can benefit from better health through chiropractic care and nutrition!
