I considered nursing school, physical therapy and osteopathic medicine but nothing was in line with my philosophy of health and healing. As fate would have it, while working out, I injured my back and was in desperate need of relief. I found myself in a chiropractic office and to my amazement was up and walking within a couple of visits. My chiropractor shared with me the essence of the chiropractic philosophy was to enable the body’s own innate intelligence to heal itself...no drugs, no side effects, no surgery. Finally, I had found a health system consistent with my philosophy!

Shortly after that, I found myself back in Iowa at Palmer Chiropractic College. Four years of intensive study and an externship trip to Nepal left me with a deep passion and commitment towards helping others in restoring their health.

My vision is to provide life-enhancing chiropractic care to all ages, in an environment which encourages people to embrace greater life expression and continued well-being.

My philosophy is based on the concept that a proactive approach is more sensible than a reactive one. For 20 Years I’ve had a herniated disc that affects my neck and upper back but this time my injury was more involved that included my left shoulder and arm, which was numb and in spasm for two weeks. I’ve been so happy to find a great chiropractor(Dr Rafic) and convenient location to pop in a couple times a week to keep me moving. The membership is easy, very friendly staff. Never waited more than 10-15 minutes. It’s not covered by insurance but is cheaper than any other cash pay option I’ve used and less headache. Medicare only reimburses for acute care but chronic patients need consistent maintenance that this membership covers nicely by discounting extra visits.

When I first started going to this location, my alignment was so bad that I started wondering if I had scoliosis (i know, Dr. Google isn't my friend). After just a month of visits my alignment was mostly fixed, I had found out about 3-4 visits in that my leg was shorter than the other, now that's mostly gone.

Had a fantastic adjustment last week. I ended up having a few displaced ribs from coughing/sneezing as well as my hip joint being pinched and out of place and my right shoulder being displaced. Several days later, I am still feeling great. The chiropractor was very knowledgeable, and her manipulations were done very quickly and effectively. The only thing I don’t like about The Joint as a whole is that they try to sell you on a membership plan. I have always been a single adjustment (with maybe a second adjustment id still having issues) Chiropractic patient. However, the reason and given behind having multiple visits does make sense so I could see the benefit of it. Also, the Membership plans are affordable for what you are getting and worth it if needed. I almost signed up, but then had to consider that I’m having surgery here about a week and I’m not going to be able to get all five visits done by the end of the month .

Staff is so friendly and inviting. I was nervous my first time but Rafic was so gentle and explained everything before he did it. I had tears of hip pain gone within a few visits. Dr. Rafic is excellent, I have just started going to this location due to a friends recommendation and I am so glad I came. My back and shoulders are always working whether I’m carrying tool bags and equipment up ladders onto roof or sleeping on my side. I recently had an injury where the pain was so severe I left work early to go to the ER. The anti-inflammatories did not help even slightly, nor did the muscle relaxers. Dr. Jason is fantastic. Gives you the time you need but takes care of what needs to be done on your body quickly and efficiently. First visit was very comfortable. Receptionist was friendly and presented their mission in a non- demanding way.
