How Does Your Tree Grow? Like Your Kids?
By Donna Kostiew
It’s Labor Day weekend and for many, it’s a pivotal moment in the year when summer is deemed “officially over.” The children are back in school, the pool toys are packed up, and the wardrobes are switched out from shorts and tees to jeans and sweaters. Autumn is on its way, with the full glory of cooler days and intense, beautiful colors that come from the transformation of the trees all around us.
It’s endearing how much love we put into our trees. We plant them in a firm foundation when they are young and nurture them as they age. We water them, we prune them, and we even attach supporting pieces of wooden stakes to give them more natural stability as they grow.
We want our trees to grow straight and tall, and we want them to be strong and healthy as well. Kind of like what we want for our children.
Unfortunately though, our children are over-stressed much more than ever before. They are being coached to become elite athletes from an early age and have all of the sports injuries to show for it, they are getting less and less sleep from all of the demands placed upon them every day, and they are carrying the weight of the world on their backs and shoulders. Literally. Have you picked up one of their backpacks lately?
Chiropractic Care as Your Child’s Foundation
Just like the tree needs a proper foundation to flourish, chiropractic care is an important foundation for proper growth, development, and health. Children can derive great lifelong benefits from chiropractic screenings and adjustments. By keeping their spine in proper alignment, the chiropractors at The Joint can help your child with balance and coordination, and provide optimal nerve signaling and systemic health for your child.
Children are Different
More than likely, your child will not need to see a chiropractor for the same issues that adults do, but the basic belief for chiropractic care is the same. Taking care of your child’s spine and nervous system, especially during the development years, is critical. Chiropractors help make sure there are no structural restrictions or imbalances during this vital time in a child’s life, and chiropractic adjustments promote optimal functions of the nervous system, which positively affects your child's overall health.
Being Proactive
The benefits of proactive chiropractic care for children include improved immune systems and digestive health, optimal nerve and brain development, and fewer injuries from the demands of sports. It is a safe, effective, and natural way to manage pain and other health issues without the side effects or complications that come from traditional drugs and surgeries.
With the help of your chiropractor, your child’s health and happiness can easily be achieved with a few proactive steps. In fact, you will probably find yourself taking pictures of your child, standing straight and tall, strong and healthy beneath that tree with the very same characteristics.
