The Patriot Project Gets Chiropractic Care to Veterans
In the township of Grand Valley in Grand Junction, Colorado, steps are being taken to address the overwhelming need for medical care for veterans and active service members, specifically highlighting chiropractic care as a complementary service.
The Patriot Project is a nationwide campaign to increase access to medical care for veterans and active service members with service-related maladies by providing free care in a multitude of disciplines. One of the commonly seen disabilities in veterans and active service members are related to musculoskeletal injuries and active participants in the Patriot Project are trying to remedy that. In Grand Valley, a team of two chiropractors has pooled resources to address the overwhelming need for chiropractic care in this vulnerable population.
One of the two chiropractic doctors, Dr. Joseph Heinecke, sees this problem as hitting very close to home. His father is a Vietnam veteran, and he sees this as an opportunity to give back to so many individuals who have sacrificed their own well being to make this country what it is. What better way than to improve the musculoskeletal health of veterans and active service members at no cost whatsoever?
The program is linked to Tricare, which is the government-sponsored organization that is tasked with providing health coverage to all active service members. The two doctors practices, New Life Chiropractic and Anable Life Chiropractic, will see anyone with the proper paperwork that conveys their involvement with any arm of the American military. The program goes a step further in providing free chiropractic care for any family members of a veteran or active service member, adding a whole new layer to this exceptional philanthropic project.
When individuals return home from war, the last thing they most likely want to worry about is access to medical care, especially since many in this position are returning home with some form of injury or illness. Campaigns such as the Patriot Project and doctors like this duo of Colorado chiropractors can effectively change the landscape of healthcare for this population.
