Facebook Names Tucson the ""Swimming City""
Congratulations Tucson! Facebook has honored you one of the fittest cities in the United States! Based on a study of fitness-related posts performed by the largest social media site in the world, Tucson was the one city in all of America to have posted on Facebook the most updates regarding swimming and has fittingly been named the “Swimming City."
The city of Tucson has opened eight additional pools since the end of May, and offers a wide array of aquatic programming for both adults and children to enjoy. The parks and recreation department of Tucson even has lifeguard training and water safety classes so that residents can stay safe and educated this summer.
Swimming is a great choice for a fun workout that does wonders for your heart and lung health. It also helps to build lean muscles that burn fat. The water can actually work to your physical benefit in two ways: both as a gravity repellant which lessens the amount of potentially harmful impact on your bones, ligaments and muscles and also as a weight, forcing your body to use more muscle strength to move through the water. So, whether you swim laps, do water aerobics or just splash around, swimming is a spectacular choice for anyone of any age to have so much fun, it doesn’t feel like a workout. Just be sure to consult your doctor to make sure you're healthy enough for this activity.
America is on its way to a healthier culture and Tucson should be proud to be one of the nation’s fitness leaders. By participating and publicizing your dedication to fitness, you are an inspiration to the rest of America to keep moving toward healthier, happier lives. Great job, Tucson! Keep up the good work!
