Exercises That Make Great Morning Workouts
By Genevieve Cunningham
Morning exercise isn’t for everyone. It’s really hard to get moving in the mornings, and some people could never dream of exercising! But others are interested in becoming morning workout people. Though they don’t do it currently, it would be nice to get it out of the way as early as possible. But getting started is so tough. If this is you, there’s hope. To get your morning workout routine started, take a look at these workouts that are great for easing into a morning routine.
Yoga
Yoga can be slow, gentle, quiet, and yet still challenging. This combination makes it absolutely wonderful for the morning. You can roll out of bed, start a video, and ease into each stretch. You don’t have to do a routine that is too strenuous or that frustrates you. Just keep it simple. Once you get used to this routine, you can add on, make it more challenging, or you can keep it just as it is. If you need something gentle in the mornings, yoga is a good place to begin.
Walking
Walking is gentle and easy to do, so why not make it your morning workout? Throw on some shoes and workout clothes, and go for a walk around the block. If you have a bit more ambition, you can hit up the park or hiking trail. And if you can barely get out of bed, it might be good to invest in a treadmill. If you need something low cost and something that you already know how to do, walking is definitely a good choice.
Cycling
If you’re looking to break a sweat in the mornings, but you’re still looking for easy and fun, pick up cycling. Riding a bike is a ton of fun, but it’s also an incredible workout. Buy a bike that you can take on the road, or hop on a stationary bike. This is a great way to work out, challenge the muscles, but still keep it mildly simple for the people who aren’t terribly keen on the mornings.
Working out first thing in the morning allows you to get it over with and out of the way. For the rest of the day, you’ll feel accomplished. You’ll know that one of the most important parts of your routine is complete! If you’re not a morning exercise person, use these workouts to ease into it. Over time, you may find that morning exercise is just what you need to get your day and health moving in the right direction.
