Drink Up to Stay Healthy
By Tom Herrin
There are not a lot of things that can be done to benefit health by simply doing what is natural. One of those natural things is drinking water. Everyone pretty much knows that water is the most basic necessity of life. The problem is that many people choose to try to drink something else in lieu of water. While there are some really good beverages that can support health, bypassing water for those others is not at all a good choice. It is fine to have other beverages, but water is critical for the body and really cannot be substituted. It can make or break health.
It Can Greatly Affect Performance
While most people are aware of the role of water in helping them to be at their physical peak, many fail to really consider all of the ways in which it can impact their lives. For many years, coaches, trainers, and others who work with athletes have realized the importance water plays in an athlete's ability to fully participate in activities. Monitoring water loss is often a big concern for those involved in things such as two-a-days prior to football season. Frequent water breaks are usually planned for such activities.
It Can Help to Move or Prevent Stones
One of the most painful experiences people can have is kidney stones. It has been compared to all kinds of other painful experiences. Increasing the amount and frequency of water taken in can be a great way to help in moving small stones through the urinary tract. It may play a vital role in helping to avoid their formation in many cases. How many other health conditions can be treated so simply?
It May Help Prevent Headaches
A lot of us have the unfortunate experience of suffering from headaches. While there may be all kinds of causes, a lack of an adequate amount of water can play a part in this for many people. It is not likely to work for all, but taking the time to drink enough water may be one of the best ways to help avoid those unpleasant feelings for many. If in no other cases, it will for sure make a difference for those who suffer from some heat-related issues. I have found that any time I fail to take in enough water, I will notice the difference. As a result, I try to drink as much as I can.
