The Time to Protect Our Skin Is Now

By Tom Herrin

Sometimes we tend to put off too many things for us to deal with later.  For some things, it may be fine.  For those of us who are concerned about our skin, putting things off may not be so wise.  Many of us spend quite a bit of time in the sun without giving it a second thought.  It is easy to do as spring approaches and we begin to be outdoors more.  Those warm days, here and there, can serve as a preview.  We relish the opportunity to get out but may quickly find that we become burned by the sun or wind.  A little information may do a lot for us in our effort to take care of our skin.

Exfoliate

At one time, I didn't even know what exfoliate meant.  I ran across a young girl in a mall who was selling products for exfoliating the skin.  After I tried the demo, I couldn't believe the difference.  It made my hands softer than I had ever remembered.  This can remove dead and damaged skin and leave a layer that is extremely soft.  A regular practice of this should probably be a part of any good program for the skin.  If nothing else, it can remind us of how soft our skin can really be when we take care of it.

Eat Healthy Fats

You may have heard about the value of healthy fats in relation to our hearts, but it can also do some good things for the skin.  These may be found in some good nuts, avocado, flaxseed, cold water fish, and more.  It is worth your while to find out which ones are good for you and add them to your diet.  These fats can help maintain our skin and protect it from injury.  They are another thing to help keep up the moisture level.

Get a Facial

Whether it is something we get from a service, or something we give ourselves, it can be helpful.  A facial from a professional can provide a good refresher for us.  Even giving ourselves a facial massage can help to relax our face and keep the elasticity.  Our skin will be more refreshed as we increase the circulation in it as well as have better color.  It is all important and very worthwhile.  If you are concerned about your skin, remember your face is a big part of it.
