4 Ways to Boost Your Mood Now

Everyone has been guilty, at one point or another, of being in a bad mood. We're cranky and irritable. We don't want to deal with people. Suffering from this emotion is actually OK when it only happens once in a while. But sometimes we need this feeling to go away now! We have a meeting or we need to work out, and our irritability is getting in the way. If you need some tools to help you shake bad moods, take a look at these tips to give a try today.

Sleep

Take a nap. Seriously, sometimes our bad moods are simple exhaustion. And when this is the case, we just need more sleep. Ideally, we'd all get a magical eight hours every night, but that doesn't always happen. If you're especially sleep deprived, go to bed early or schedule a nap into your day. This can absolutely transform your health and your entire day. Give it a try, and you might get hooked on the power of more sleep. 

Get Some Sun

Sunshine is almost magical. There's something about that direct sunlight on your skin that really boosts your mood. If you're in a bad mood, and you haven't spent much time outdoors lately, get outside even if it's only for a few minutes. You'll probably be surprised at the huge difference that this makes on your mood and energy levels.

Practice Deep Breathing

Deep breathing is such a perfect choice. Breathe in through your nose very slowly and deeply, and then exhale through your mouth, again very slowly. Do this for a set of three to five breaths. It can help to close your eyes in order to take out some of the distraction. This helps reset both body and mind. It's great in a pinch, and if it works for you, you can learn other breathing techniques to really enhance your life.

Escape

Unfortunately, you can't run away to a deserted island, and honestly that isn't a healthy approach anyway. But you can leave the room or the office for a few minutes to collect yourself. Removing yourself from the situation allows you to reassess. It gives you physical space, which often leads to more mental space. Give this a try when you simply can't shake the mood. It might be all you need to take the edge off and continue your day.
