Dive In: What's So Great About Water?

By Genevieve Cunningham

Anytime you're looking for tips on improving your health, you'll probably come across one common tip: water. Water automatically falls to the healthy side of any debate. What should you drink? Water. Where's a good place to work out? In the water. But why? In all seriousness, the average person knows that water is healthy, but may or may not really know why. If you want to understand this health tip before you dive in, take a look at why water is king in so many ways.

In Your Diet

If we're being honest, water is the only real drink you need in your diet. We don't need coffee or soda or juice. We like those things, but water is where the magic's at. Water hydrates our bodies and minds. It helps with digestion and improves mental health and keeps our muscles well fed. For those wanting to lose weight, water can help. For those wanting clear skin, water can help. By making water a staple in your daily diet, you're drastically improving your chances of better health -- and you'll likely feel a lot better as well.

In Your Workout

Water can be used in your workout in multiple ways. If you're at home and need weights, fill up some milk jugs and you're good to go. Of course, you can also go for a swim, which improves stamina and works every muscle group in the body. Water is also great for anyone who is in pain or suffering an injury. A water aerobics class -- or something similar -- allows you to work out without the stress. The water's buoyancy takes the weight -- and so also the pain -- off of your body so you can get in a great workout.

Additional Things to Remember

Along with helping in your diet and your workout, water can also help you keep focus and improve energy levels. It replenishes the body, and over time, it makes a gigantic impact on overall health. While the transition might be difficult at first, the results will be worth the magic you feel in your health.

When it comes to good health, water is your friend. It's necessary and powerful. It can turn your health around, and over time, can make you feel like a new person. Start adding water into your diet, your workout, and your life in general, and better health is sure to follow.
