Chiropractic Care Can Help Infants Sleep Through the Night

During labor, many people give mom all the credit for the hard work. Why not show Jr. a little appreciation too. According to Dr. Jake Schmitz of Freedom Chiropractic Health Clinic, a chiropractic practice in North Dakota, a newborn can spend anywhere from an hour to nine hours with their heads turned to the side when they are being born. While little ones will not remove this “pain in the neck”, it can be highly beneficial to get the baby adjusted right after birth.

Baby Jayden and his father, Jason Ochsendorf, are regular clients of Dr. Schmitz. Jayden received his first adjustment from the doctor at only nine hours old. His father credits the baby’s monthly chiropractor appointments for helping his baby sleep soundly through the night.

Not only does Jayden sleep through the night, but also his father says that, “They [Babies] don't get ear infections as often which is huge; it tends to keep their airways more open so they don't tend to be as nasally and congested." If you think Jason is just lucky with his son, think again. He also has an older daughter that was never adjusted by a chiropractor, and she never slept through the night and was plagued with many ear infections as a baby.

Dr. Schmitz goes on to say that a minor tweak now can save someone from major complications later down the road.

So should you get your baby adjusted? With all medical/alternative procedures, talk with your child’s doctor first. Baby adjustments are very gentle and minor; there is no cracking or popping involved, like when adults get adjusted. With your pediatrician’s blessing, getting your baby adjusted is worth trying; an adjustment just might make the world of difference when you put your little one down to bed for the night.
