Want to Stay Fit? Try These Exercises

By Virginia Laird

Summertime is exciting for many. For some it is due to the lack of routine required given the break from school and other life demands. For others, summer is exciting with the plans of traveling and vacationing. With all this excitement, health and wellness experts warn that many tend to put fitness on the back-burner. Instead, summer is a time you should try new exercises. A few things to consider giving a go this summer include:

  • Consider taking a group exercise class
  • Make time to walk
  • Go for a swim

Consider Taking a Group Exercise Class

For those who prefer an instructor who can provide a push and some motivation, participating in a group exercise class can be what you are looking for. These can be found at your local gym. Most of the time, there are a wide variety of classes offered (at various times each day), including spin, yoga, and much more. Drop by your local gym for a class today. Keep in mind that each class is different and may take you a couple of classes to get the hang of it.

Make Time to Walk

Walking offers a great workout. While there are many who may not believe that walking offers enough to keep you in shape, there is research to suggest just the opposite. Health and wellness experts admit that walking offers a low-impact workout which can help with weight management, strengthen cardio, and improve your overall health. It is advised that walking at least 20 minutes each day can be enough to make a positive change in your health while helping to get you in shape.

Go for a Swim

Health and wellness experts admit that swimming is a great workout for everyone, including those who struggle with a variety of pain. Research indicates that swimming works every muscle in the body while remaining a zero-impact exercise. This same research indicates that swimming can help keep you in shape without the pain and strain on the body that other workouts induce. If you are one who generally suffers with some pain, it may be time to give swimming a try to help get your body in shape today.

Start today taking the time to get your body in shape by giving these workouts, and others, a try this summer.
