3 Tips for Losing Weight This Year

By Virginia Laird

If you are anything like me, you are constantly trying to lose a few pounds. However, I don’t want to invest a ton of money in autoship diets and supplements. There are plenty of tips, diets, and plans available which do not have these requirements. Weight loss professionals have offered several tips for those wanting to lose weight, including:

  • Keep a food journal
  • Consider a cleanse
  • Reduce your junk food

Keep a Food Journal

If you have never tried to keep a food journal before, you may be missing out. This is a tool which can help you identify what you are eating and drinking as well as the calories which accompany each. There is no need to make this a complicated ordeal. Simply writing down everything you consume on a daily basis can be an eye opening experience. You may just be surprised at how many calories you are eating each day (or even each meal).

Consider a Cleanse

Have you ever done a cleanse? Many dietitians recommend cleanses as a way to reset your cravings and begin losing weight. There are a wide variety of cleanse plans to follow. It is best to choose one that don't require you to starve yourself for days on end. Another important fact to remember is that a cleanse should help you drop quick pounds, but the weight will not stay off unless you make the lifestyle change to keep it off. This may require you to refrain from drinking soda, giving up some junk food, or cutting back on sugar.

Reduce Your Junk Food

Another way to help lose unwanted pounds in 2018 is to reduce the amount of junk food you consume. Junk food includes far more than you may think. It is anything which is not necessary, does not have nutritional value and balance, and has too many grams of fat or sugar for your daily diet. Sadly, this is most comfort and quick food. It can be hard to eliminate all junk food at once. If this is you, try getting rid of just one item at a time. As you cut the junk out of your life, you may be able to notice weight loss and many other health-related benefits.

The struggle to lose weight is not always pleasant, but will always improve your health, making it worth every moment of weakness you battled through. Good luck and may 2018 be your best year yet!
