Watching Your Weight? Try these Tips

By Virginia Laird

It's that time of year when the waistline watching becomes increasingly necessary. It is also a burden to those who would prefer to indulge in all the tasty treats that lie in wait at every holiday party you will attend. While you may prefer to try one of each of the sweet treats available, it is far from the best idea. Loading up on every treat in sight can (and will) pack the pounds on, which can lead to quite to battle to get rid of them. A few tips that health and wellness experts share to help you avoid weight gain, and even shed a few pounds, include:

  • Make time to exercise
  • Stay hydrated
  • Track your food

Make Time to Exercise

Watching your weight can have a great impact on your health. Likewise, it is vital to add exercise to your life. Research indicates that at least 30 minutes of exercise can help you maintain your weight. This workout can take place in a gym, in a group exercise class, or a variety of other ways. Drop by your local gym to find out what workout classes are available to you and your family. No matter how you choose to get your exercise in, make sure you start that today.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water has been proven to help with weight loss. Water can be used as a zero calorie filler to help control cravings. This is best done by maintaining proper hydration on a regular basis. For this to be best achieved, it is advised that you consume at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. Now is the time to begin tracking your water consumption to help with you weight management.

Track Your Food

Writing down everything you consume can be helpful when watching your weight. Experts say that many consume far too many calories each day, while never realizing it. Keeping a food journal can help when trying to identify things you can cut back on and reduce. This includes the beverages you consume as well. Start today making this a habit to help with your weight loss and management.

Decide now to take control of your health, wellness, and weight and start doing what is necessary to prevent unwanted weight from resting on your waistline.
