Lacking Motivation to Exercise? See a Chiropractor

By Stephen R. Farris

When it comes to exercising every day, the routine can become dull for us. We may lose our motivation to get out of bed in the mornings. Sometimes when the alarm goes off, we hit the snooze button. Not once, but several times.

Once we finally get going, it's not uncommon to come up with excuses to cancel our workouts. It could be anything from not having enough time to convincing yourself that you're just too tired. Maybe you're feeling a little pain in your back or legs. You decide to take the day off to rest. One day leads to two, then more, and before you know it, you've quit exercising, period.

Getting motivated and staying motivated is almost a constant challenge, but there are ways to overcome it and get your exercise routine back on a stable, consistent track.

Hide Your Clock

Not really, but at least put it as far away as you can. This way you'll have to get out of bed to go turn it off, and might encourage you to stay up and moving.

Use a Buddy System

Having a friend to share workouts with a partner can be beneficial for each of you. Make a set time each day to meet up with a friend. Alternate days to call each other as a wake-up tool. On the plus side, you can keep each other motivated when exercising together. How about one more lap?

Make Goals

Setting goals can be another way to keep motivated. Keep a diary of your daily exercise routine, and what you've accomplished. Maybe you've walked an extra mile or two, or lost a couple of pant sizes. These are things that can help push us toward our ultimate goal and keep motivational levels at a high.

Heard Any Good Music Lately?

One of the best motivational tools you have available is by listening to music from your iPod or smartphone while you exercise. Make a playlist of your favorite music and load it on your device. Music can help keep you focused and provide inspiration, which all leads to motivation.

Remember earlier I mentioned pain as a motivation stopper? Well if you are experiencing pain, especially in your back, neck and joints, go visit your local chiropractor, like the expertly trained chiropractors found at The Joint Chiropractic. No appointment is necessary at any of their 500 nationwide locations.

At The Joint, you'll be examined by one of their chiropractors on staff. A diagnosis will be made and treatment options can be set up to fit your budget. You'll be able to get the relief you need and motivational support to help return you to the active lifestyle you had before.
