The Chiropractic Chore Tips You Need
By Brandi Goodman
Tackling household chores can leave you feeling fatigued and sore. That is, if you're not following any chiropractic recommendations. Don't simply get started without having a foolproof plan in mind. With some chiropractic chore tips in your arsenal, you can get through your duties pain-free.
Schedule Breaks
You should never tackle the entire household in one sitting. At the very least, you should schedule yourself some break in between each session. Get the kitchen clean and then take a break for a bit before moving onto the bathroom, for example. Otherwise, spread out your cleaning duties over the course of the week. This helps ensure you aren't overdoing it and are less likely to feel sore after you're finished.
Follow Proper Lifting Protocol
No matter what it is you're cleaning -- be it laundry, clearing boxes out after holidays, or something else -- you need to remember to follow proper lifting protocol. This means bending at the knees and using your legs to help you lift the heavy item up. You should never bend forward at your back and raise back up in this manner. You'll likely end up hurting yourself.
Plug Your Vacuum Into an Extension Cord
The cord on a vacuum is typically pretty long. You may be able to get one entire room handled without needing to switch outlets. However, it isn't long enough for the entire house. Instead of regularly bending down to unplug the cord and moving it to another outlet, you can start out with an extension cord. This will ensure you can reach every space without the need for stopping.
Set the Laundry Basket Higher
If you're someone who typically leaves the laundry basket on the floor and bends down to grab a piece or two at a time -- stop! You're doing far too much bending and twisting in the process. Set your laundry basket up higher, such as on top of the dryer or nearby on a table. You can grab the clothes without the need for bending over. It will save you some back pain.
Chores and back pain do not have to be synonymous. Keep these chiropractic tips in mind to help make your house cleaning process go much smoother. If you still end up with an ache, you may want to stop in at The Joint Chiropractic for an assessment. You never know when a joint restriction may need correcting.
