How to Get Fit in a Daily 20 Minutes or Less Session

By Genevieve Cunningham

Let's face it: We don't have a lot of time. In our modern world, we're constantly involved in one thing or another. We try to keep up with work and its obligations, family and friends, and a million other things for our kids and families as a whole. So even though we know that we need to make time for exercise, we can't always make it happen. We just don't have the hour (or more!)  to spare, and so our health suffers as a result. But what if we could get fit in just a few minutes per day? If you need a quick and effective workout plan, take a look at these options to add to your life today.

High Intensity Interval Training

High intensity interval training is a kind of circuit training. You'll do a certain activity -- something like lunges or squats -- for a certain period of time. Then you'll rest for a short period before immediately going into the next block of time with a new move. The circuits often mean that you work for 60 seconds and rest for 20 seconds. If you do this for 20 or 30 minutes, you'll be dripping with sweat and burning calories at an incredible rate.

Sprints

Running can be good for calorie burn and building stamina. But if you want to burn more calories in a shorter amount of time, consider sprinting. Sprinting requires our bodies to provide quick energy to our muscles. If you do sprints for half an hour, you're going to be incredibly tired. You'll be gasping for air with burning legs and lungs. But if you're ready to push yourself, this might be just what you need. Take your sprints to the track, set a timer, take short breaks, and you'll be worn out in the best way in no time at all.

Kettlebell Workouts

The great thing about kettlebells is that it allows you to lift weights while doing your cardio. A lot of kettlebell moves require a swinging motion, which involves even more muscles in your body. You can burn calories in more ways than one - but in the same amount of time. A quick kettlebell workout will leave you sore and sweating. If quick and extremely effective is the goal, invest in some kettlebells and get to work.

Believe it or not, you can improve your health without dedicating all of your time to exercise. You just need a little equipment and a few minutes every day. Use these quick and effective workouts to get your body in gear and build the best health and fitness of your life.
