3 Tips for Forming the Perfect Fitness Group
By Genevieve Cunningham
Getting fit, staying fit, and improving health is definitely a challenge. It's mentally and physically demanding. It's extremely personal, and yet, it's so much easier if we share the journey with others. But how do we do that? If we're all working toward different goals and doing different things, how do we share the journey to make it easier? For many people, the answer is a fitness group! If you would like to be a part of a fitness group to help you work toward your goals, take a look at these tips for finding the perfect people and forming the perfect group.
Put Yourself Out There
You'll never find what you're looking for if you don't ask. If you're a part of a gym, let it be known that you're looking for support. If you're a part of an online fitness forum, ask if anyone is interested in virtual support. Don't be afraid to be the ringleader. Others may also be looking for support, but are simply too shy to ask. Let it be known, in a friendly and safe way, that a fitness group is part of your plan, and you may find that creating the group is easy.
Rely on Your Current Friends
If you're not keen on looking for new people, try asking your current friends or family member if they want to lose weight or get fit. Sometimes, all it takes is an extra push for people to get started down the fitness path. The key? Don't push. Just let your family and friends know what you're doing, ask if they would like to join in, and then give them some time. You may find a few people reach out and join in. And since these are people that you already know and love, it can make the entire process a ton of fun and stress-free.
Use a Class
Another great way to find fitness friends and motivation is to join a class. Check out your local gym for a boxing, kettlebell, aerobics, or yoga class. Join in on whatever suits your interest. This allows you to meet new people who already have an interest in what you're doing. This might be all the fitness group that you need, or you may meet a few people who are interested in keeping each other motivated and moving forward.
A fitness group can make all the difference in your quest to get in shape. It offers motivation and support and an additional push. Use these tips to get your group set up, and enjoy the benefits that come with like-minded friends and a group setting.
