4 Habits for a Healthy Summer
By Virginia Laird
As you prepare to enjoy your summer, it is necessary to make sure that you take care of your health. Many make the choice to fully embrace the summer lifestyle and let go of several healthy habits. However, as you enjoy the time off, it is imperative to keep your health in check. Health and wellness professionals offer a list of things that should be done during the summer to make certain you remain healthy. Some of these include:
- Wear sunscreen every day
- Make sure to stay hydrated
- Stay on routine
- Put down electronics
Wear Sunscreen Every Day
Wearing sunscreen is essential to protecting your skin from the harsh rays of sunlight. While the warmth of the sun may put you in a good mood, it can be brutal for the skin. Research suggests that too much sun can cause damage to the skin, including cancer and an increase in the aging process. If you don't already wear sunscreen every day it is not too late to begin this habit.
Make Sure to Stay Hydrated
Water is essential no matter what time of the year. Health and wellness experts recommend that drinking water throughout the summer is even more vital as the heat of the sun can dehydrate you and cause heat stroke and heat exhaustion. It is recommended that you drink at least half of your body weight in ounces each day.
Stay on Routine
Having a routine in place plays a vital role in your overall health and wellness. When there is a lack of routine there is no guarantee that you will get enough sleep, eat properly, or do other essential things which are vital for the body to properly function.
Put Down Electronics
Do not make it a habit to be on your electronics, television, or any other device all day. This provides a sedentary lifestyle which can lead to weight gain and other health issues. It is recommended to limit the amount of time you spend on your electronics per day.
Using these healthy tips, you are sure to be able to keep your health in check this summer as well as the health of your family. Now start planning your summer of fun right away to make sure you get the most of the warm sunshine and your vacation.
