Can You Clean Your Way to Better Health?
By Genevieve Cunningham
Cleaning is a hot topic as of late. With the success of people like Marie Kondo, cleaning has become more than a chore; it's a way of life. Many are learning that cleaning can be comforting. It can make you feel good about yourself and your life. But as it turns out, cleaning may also improve your basic health. If you like the idea of cleaning up your health, body, and life, take a look at how you can use this trend to clean your way to better health starting now.
Clean Your Home
When you clean your home, it can boost your health in two ways. First, cleaning burns a lot of calories. You're moving and scrubbing and mopping. It might not be as much as a hardcore gym session, but it will definitely get the calories moving in the right direction. But cleaning your home can also rid your space of allergens and toxins that make you sick. And with the addition of a clean home, you're likely to feel better mentally as well. It's a win all the way around.
Clean Your Diet
Cleaning up your diet sounds hard, but it's really not. Start by simply cutting junk food -- chips, sweets, soda. Once you've ended your junk food addiction, you can slowly replace that food with healthy options. Vegetables, delicious fruit, nuts, whole grains. When your diet is clean, it can help you lose weight, improve digestion, and make you feel more clear-minded. If your main interest is in improving the body specifically, cleaning up your diet is probably a good place to start.
Clean Your Emotions
Though the body is obviously important, your health consists of your life as a whole -- physical, mental, and emotional. One way to really improve your health more than you realize is to clean up your emotional state. You can do this by keeping your schedule full but not overly busy, cutting out negative people and situations, and focusing on reaching personal goals. When you give your own heart and mind a little attention, you'll be amazed at how much better (and healthier!) you feel on a daily basis.
Cleanliness is always a good idea. No matter what you're talking about -- your home, your car, or your body -- cleanliness improves it. Use these tips to clean up areas of your life, and you'll find life improve in ways you never thought possible.
