Stop the Excuses Already!
By Donna Stark
Not enough sleep. Not enough money. Not enough time. Definitely, not enough motivation. Do these statements sound like something you have said in the recent past? Well, you are not alone as we all make excuses to avoid working out, don't we? But what's worse is that many people then go on to complain that they aren't getting the results they wish for fast enough. It's a silly cycle to step into and the only way to get out of it is to stop the excuses today!
Find New Excuses
Instead of making excuses to get out of exercise, why don't you try to come up with some new excuses as to why you can't afford to miss your daily workouts? Take a look at the following suggestions.
- Not enough sleep - Sure, life is crazy, hectic, and busy, and by the time morning rolls around, all you want to do is to continue sleeping! But did you know that you can get rid of your feelings of fatigue and fogginess by exercising? If you want to find some extra energy during your days you have to expend some first, so don't you dare hit that snooze button! You can make a huge difference in your day just by engaging in some simple stretches in the morning.
- Not enough money - Gym memberships can be costly and designing a home gym in your garage can be out of your reach but that shouldn't stop you from exercising! There are plenty of inexpensive (and free) options that you can easily incorporate into your days. Don't know where to start? How about taking a walk, going for a bike ride, or checking out some online workout videos in your living room?
- Not enough time - Just about every problem has a solution and not having enough time is one of those problems. You can wake up earlier, take a shorter lunch, or workout when your children are doing their homework. But the biggest habit you can curtail that will give you more time to exercise is to get off of your phone! All you need is 30 minutes a day to improve your overall fitness level.
- Not enough motivation - More than likely, you are making the excuse of not having enough motivation because you simply don't like exercising, so why don't you try something different? By focusing on all of the positive benefits you will receive from daily exercise, you may be able to find some joy in it. Also, it is very important to find the exercises you love to engage in!
Excuses will only ever hold you back. It's time to take responsibility and own them! So start your new attitude today and get the results you have been hoping for. They are definitely within reach!
