Make Your Dates a Healthy Exercise
By Donna Stark
Sometimes “the good old standby” is exactly what we want. It’s something we have come to rely on, something that we have had a favorable experience with in the past. It can bring a comfortable resolution during a time of indecision and, usually, everyone is happy with the outcome. But when it comes to dating, it is nice to take a step away from those good old standbys … you know, the dinner and movie dates or the “deep discussions” over a mid-afternoon cup of fancy coffee.
For some, the endless cycle of the same old dates -- whether with a new beau or a comfortable spouse -- can be difficult to break free from. If you find yourself in this position, if you feel you have become all too comfortable with relying on that easy choice, then read on. It’s time that you shake things up a bit and do something different!
Skip the Boring Cup of Coffee
Trying something new may put you out of your comfort zone, but these alternative date ideas -- and they could just as easily be excursions on your own or with friends or family -- will definitely get you thinking about new experiences. And with the added benefit of them all including physical activity, you won’t have to worry about skipping the gym to spend time with your loved one. Take a look.
- Bike - Bike rides are a great choice, especially if it’s through a beautiful park or ends up somewhere fun. Discover new trails or ride to your favorite juice bar. Just be sure not to leave your partner behind. Remember, it’s a date, not a race.
- Hike - Few things are as fun as adventuring with your loved one, especially when the area is new to the both of you. Find some cool trails to go on, or simply “hike” through a new city. Take a backpack filled with snacks and drinks so you can stop at a cool little spot for a quick picnic.
- Hit the zoo - What better way to relive your childhood memories than to head out to the zoo? Kick it up a notch by hitting the gift shop at the end to buy your main squeeze something to remember the date with.
- Farmers markets - Sure, you may have to set your alarm for this date, but everyone loves a good farmers market. It’s great fun to people-watch, try new foods, and connect with those in your community. And there is no better way to score major points than with buying your date a big beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers or a gallon-sized jar of homemade salsa. You could also pick up some fresh produce to make lunch or dinner with later in the day.
Childhood Memories
There are so many options for you to choose in place of the same old movie and tub of buttered popcorn for some fun. An easy way to come up with new ideas is to think about what you loved to do as a child and go from there. The options are endless!
