Fall Into Better Health This Year!
By Donna Stark
The hot steamy temperatures are slowly starting to disappear, and the cooler winds are beginning to greet us in the morning. For many people, this is their favorite time of year, because once again, the weather is at its best! Mother Nature has certainly handed us a gift and it's time to take advantage of it! If you are one of those people who love the fall (who isn't?), you may want to consider improving your overall health by taking your fitness routine outside! It's never too late to start and there is no better time than now to enjoy the gorgeous weather! Take a look at these suggestions on how to "fall" into a couple of outdoor workouts.
Grab Your Hiking Shoes
The fresh air, the change in color of the leaves ... this is an excellent time of year to grab your hiking shoes and head to the trails! If you are a beginner, look for a novice trail or just take a simple walk around town, but if you are experienced in hiking, find a trail that offers more of a challenge. Just be sure to plan accordingly before you head out and pack plenty of water!
Grab Your Bike
There is nothing more exhilarating than a bike ride during the fall season. And even though the air is crisp and cool, your body will stay warm and comfortable from the incredible workout you are giving it. The muscles in your legs will be toned, your stamina and endurance will be improved, and you may even be able to lose an extra pound or two!
Grab Your Friends
There is no shortage of things to do with your friends, but if you want to get a great workout in while having some serious fun, grab your circle of buddies and pick a sport! From soccer to football to lacrosse to golf, the options are endless, and really, how could you pass up an opportunity to show your dominance on the field?
Grab Your Tools
OK, this suggestion doesn't sound like a lot of fun but it can be, and working in the yard is still a great way to stay active. So grab your rake and call your kids! Make an afternoon out of it by letting them crunch through your piles before the leaves get bagged up. Then once you're done, head on over to the pumpkin patch and pick the prettiest ones in the field. There may even be some warm apple cider and hayrides available too!
Fall Activities Are the Best!
Great weather, cozy nights, Sunday games ... you would think that life couldn't get any better, but it can, especially if you improve your overall health and fitness during this time of year too! So head outdoors and get moving! The weather is not going to last.
