Dr. Michael Jarry joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in 2016 and has been the local chiropractor at the Windward Plaza clinic since 2017. He received his doctorate of chiropractic from Life University where he also studied sports medicine, physiotherapy, and nutrition.
“The thing I love most about being in the chiropractic field is being able to improve people’s quality of life naturally by correcting the root cause of their pain,” he says.
A product of Palm Bay, Fla., Dr. Jarry enjoys golfing and rebuilding classic cars in his spare time. He and wife Anslie don’t have kids, but they do have a German shepherd named Hansel and a Labrador/pit bull mix named Dexter.
The defining moment on Dr. Jarry’s career path took place when he was a teenager who had suffered through a traumatic experience. “I knew this was for me when chiropractic care saved my baseball career in high school after a car accident,” he says. “Multiple doctors told me I would not be able to play again. Through chiropractic care, I did play again.”
Dr. Jarry says the best thing about working at Windward Plaza is that “I am able to give hundreds of people the care and relief they need at an affordable price.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
The one thing Dr. Jarry always keeps in his refrigerator at home, he says, is water -- and for a very good reason: “It is essential for life.”
If he could bring together any four people from history for the dinner party of his dreams, Dr. Jarry would choose the founder of chiropractic, B.J. Palmer, and the man credited with inventing baseball (“the greatest American pastime in sport”), Abner Doubleday. As well, Dr. Jarry would like to pick the brains of Plato and Isaac Newton.
“I would love to explore more of Plato’s thoughts and philosophy, through his point of view, and how those views relate to this time period versus his time period,” he says. “As one of the greatest physicists and mathematicians of the 17th century, I would love to talk to Newton about how he found his inspiration and his thought process on making new discoveries.”
Dr. Jarry says the coolest thing he has ever done revolved around the sport he loves so much. “I traveled the country playing baseball,” he says. “I was able to meet a lot of different and amazing people -- as I continue to do through my profession now as a doctor.”
Dr. Phil Meyers joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in 2019. A graduate of University of Toledo who majored in exercise science, Dr. Meyers has a strong sports background; his focus at Toledo was strength and conditioning and human performance, was assistant intern for four years with the strength and conditioning department at Toledo, and was a student intern with his hometown Cleveland Indians in 1995-96.
He also studied massage from the American Institute of Massage Therapy, and received his doctorate from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis.
“The thing I like best about being part of the chiropractic field is that we are able to provide the best healthcare systems to the masses in these transformative times,” Dr. Meyers says. “It’s extremely gratifying that the tools of healing that I get to use come from within me.”
He lives what he calls a “healthatarian lifestyle” and In his spare time enjoys strength and conditioning, exercise, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and calisthenics. He also enjoys cooking for, and being in nature with, his daughter.
He knew chiropractic was his calling once it got personal. “When I put my hands on a person’s nervous system,” he explains, “and saw their experience of total reversal of suffering.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Meyers says the one thing he must have in his refrigerator is celery, which he must have “to make my celery juice every evening as part of my nutritional health.”
If he could bring together any four people for his perfect dinner party, it would be Moshe Feldenkrais, a master in awareness through movement; Mantak Chia, a master in qi gong; Nassim Haramein, physicist in unified field theory; and Sadhguru, an Indian mystic and sage.
The coolest thing he has ever done, he says, “was take the leap of faith to follow my heart and show up.”
