Originally from New York, he moved with his family to metro Atlanta as a child. Dr. Patrick has since moved away four times, but Georgia keeps calling him back. It was on one of his hiatuses from Georgia that he decided to attend chiropractic school. While living in southern California, he was impressed with how the community prioritized taking care of themselves, particularly through diet, exercise, and routine chiropractic care. Having been to a chiropractor since childhood, Dr. Patrick explored the possibility of attending chiropractic school. Dr. Patrick completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University in Marietta, GA.

Dr. Patrick has extensive training in multiple techniques and utilizes his various skills depending on the needs of each particular patient. His focus is specific adjustments to restore the structure of the spine in order to help the body return to and maintain optimal function. Additionally, he is certified in Webster Technique, which allows him to provide effective chiropractic care to expectant mothers throughout pregnancy.

Dr. Patrick lives locally with his wife Kristina and their two daughters. When not adjusting or with his family, he enjoys spending time playing volleyball and golf.

Dr. Shayla received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Life University in 2015 where she decided to continue her education at Life University, one of the country’s most renowned schools for chiropractic studies. After completion of her preceptorships, Dr. Shayla earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in March 2021 with a specialty in spinal biomechanics and a focus on family and wellness care.

Dr. Shayla joined The Joint Chiropractic team of local healthcare providers back in November 2022 and is now one of our full-time doctors at our Canton location. She is passionate about natural healthcare and stays up to date on the latest health-related research. Dr. Shayla says, "The human body is incredibly intelligent. There is no mistake in its design. Once you get down to the root cause of WHY something is happening within the body, you have a better understanding of how to support it to function optimally."

Dr. Kevin Astor Deliz is a dedicated and enthusiastic chiropractor who joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2024, becoming an integral part of the Cartersville and Canton teams. Raised in Puerto Rico, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences before discovering his true calling in chiropractic care.

His journey into the field began at Life University’s Life Leadership Weekend, where the philosophy of chiropractic and the holistic lifestyle rooted in vitalism resonated with him. It was at that moment Dr. Kevin knew his passion was helping patients live healthier, drug-free lives.

Dr. Kevin is a firm believer in the power of chiropractic care and its profound influence on the nervous system. As he explains: "The best part of being a chiropractor is helping people improve their quality of life without the use of drugs or surgery. The second-best part is seeing the look on their faces when they experience a truly great adjustment."

Dr. Mark Richards joined our Canton team in 2025. He is bringing with him over a decade of experience and a passion for helping people move better, feel better, and live more active lives.

Originally from Lockport, NY, Dr. Mark began his academic journey studying engineering at the University of Buffalo. However, after spending time shadowing his older brother's chiropractic office, he discovered his true calling. Inspired by the impact chiropractic care has on patients’ lives, Dr. Mark made the decision to change paths and transferred to D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. There, he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating in 2014.

Before joining the team in Canton, Dr. Mark practiced in Woodstock, GA, for 11 years. During that time, he helped countless patients return to the activities they love. “The best thing is when I’m done working with a patient, and they get up off the table feeling so much better than when they walked in,” he says. “Not much can beat that.”

Dr. Mark is proud to be part of The Joint because of its dedication to providing high-quality care that’s both accessible and affordable. He believes chiropractic isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. Outside the clinic, Dr. Mark is an active disc golfer and soccer enthusiast. He enjoys playing the sport himself and cheering on his children from the sidelines. He lives in Canton with his wife and childhood sweetheart, Amanda, and their three children. The family shares their home with two energetic dogs, Rocky and Maggie, and enjoys a lifestyle centered around family, creativity, and community.

Fun Fact:

One of the coolest things Dr. Mark has done was celebrating his 40th birthday with a memorable trip to Washington with his wife. They traveled to see Imagine Dragons perform at The Gorge Amphitheatre. It was their first time visiting the area, and they made the most of it by renting a Mustang convertible to soak in the views. The experience left them with unforgettable memories and a deep appreciation for the amazing Venue.

Dr. Chris O’Brien earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in 2005 and has practiced in Michigan and several cities across Georgia. He joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2023 and became part of our Canton team in April 2024.

Originally from the Detroit, MI area, Dr. Chris discovered his passion for chiropractic during a weekend at Dynamic Essentials, where he heard legends like Dr. Sid Williams, Dr. Jim Sigafoose, and Dr. Reggie Gold speak. Their words inspired his lifelong commitment to helping others live healthier, more balanced lives through chiropractic care.

Dr. Chris finds the greatest reward in “helping others become better versions of themselves” and loves seeing the smile that follows a great adjustment.

Outside the clinic, he enjoys playing darts, hiking, attending concerts, and spending time with his two dogs, Ivy and Atlas. He’s also a proud father of two adult children and grandfather to two grandkids.

I’ve been a patient for over a year and will probably be one until the day I die. When I first went to The Joint I had a lot of lower back troubles that were paired with a migraine that would bring me to tears. Now I go once a week for a weekly adjustment and haven’t had those painful back troubles nor the migraines. Coming to The Joint has truly been life changing for me. I was super hesitant about joining another membership place where I’d just be another member number, that is so not the case here.
