Fitness and Food Tips for When You're Dating

By Brandi Goodman

Valentine's Day will be here before you know it. Take time to plan something now so the person you're dating will be surprised. It doesn't have to be the same old thing you've always done either. With some fitness and food tips, you can plan the ideal date that revolves around health.

Choose a Health Food Restaurant

A restaurant that serves healthier dishes than normal should be your dinner spot. Laziza Mediterranean Grill is one option in Evans. Shishkebab Restaurant is a vegetarian choice. Mellow Mushroom is vegan. This gives you several eating options in the area that can fit your lifestyle or your partner's.

Ask for Nutritional Information

Always be sure to ask for nutritional information when you're dining out. The restaurant should have the details on file somewhere. Calorie count and sodium content are two of the major things you should look out for. Don't be shy to do this in front of your date. Simply let them know you're trying to watch what you eat and they should have no problems with the extra time.

Plan a Picnic

A picnic is a great way to have a romantic date while also getting to eat healthy. You can pack up your favorite health foods and share them with your partner. Just be sure there's a variety of options so they have at least something they can eat if they aren't eating as healthy as you right now.

Go for a Walk in a New Place

You might want to steer clear of dark forested paths if you're on a first date, but otherwise choosing a walking date in a new place can be a fun adventure. You'll get exercise in with all the walking you're doing while still being able to have a conversation. Holding hands while taking a stroll can be incredibly romantic. You could try walking downtown in a nearby city or walk along the waterfront near a beach or lake.

Act Like a Kid

Plenty of family fun centers and arcade rooms exist. Try one of these places on your date instead. It will have you feeling like a kid again and having a blast while also encouraging exercise. Don't just stick with arcade games. Try a game of mini golf. Play a game of laser tag. Jump in the trampoline park. Any activities that require movement are best to do.

Give these tips a try and experience a unique date in a healthy way. What says love more than wanting to keep your partner healthy and well?
