Dr. Adam Neumiller joined The Joint Chiropractic team in 2019 with his arrival at the Lawrenceville clinic. A graduate of South Dakota State, he earned his bachelor’s of science degree in nutrition and food science before getting his doctorate of chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minn.
Dr. Neumiller -- you can call him Dr. Adam if you’d like -- loves his job and the impact he can have on the community. “The best thing about being in chiropractic is helping patients live without pain so they can enjoy life to the fullest,” he says. “The other thing that I appreciate is the respect you get from society.”
That respect works both ways as Dr. Neumiller, who worked previously in Minneapolis -- becomes more embedded in Lawrenceville. “I enjoy the interaction and the diversity of the patients,” he says.
Dr. Neumiller likes being active, which includes playing soccer, and being out and about. “I enjoy anything outdoors and adventurous,” he says. “I like attending sporting events, concerts, festivals. I also enjoy checking out local breweries and pubs with friends.”
He says he knew chiropractic was his calling when he was in college.
“I believe in preventive care,” Dr. Neumiller says. “During my clinical dietetics rotation, it was more about taking care of very sick people and it was too depressing for me. I mentioned my concern with my classmate, who informed me of chiropractic. After researching chiropractic college and learning it is all about preventative care, I made the decision to pursue this path. I have now adopted the saying, Pay for your wellness or you’ll pay for your illness.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
When it comes to things Dr. Neumiller must have in his refrigerator, he likes to keep it spicy. “I love having multiple types of hot sauces,” he says. “Depending on what I’m eating depends on what type I choose. My favorite is Cholula.”
If Dr. Neumiller could share his love of all things spicy with any four individuals from history, he would like to have Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, President Abraham Lincoln, actor Will Smith, and comedian Chris Farley attend his dream dinner party.
“I would want to pick Jeff Bezos’ brain on business, drive and passion,” he says. “Abraham Lincoln knew that for the greater good, ‘freedom for all’ was worth putting a nation through civil war even though half the nation would be against Lincoln himself. Will Smith is my favorite actor; he has acted in so many different types of roles and he crushes them all. Most actors stick to a specific genre, whereas he does them all. I’d include Chris Farley merely for comic relief.”
Dr. Neumiller says the coolest thing he has ever done was take an all-inclusive seven-day trip to Costa Rica with his sister. “The trip was part of a travel club that I am in,” he says. “It was awesome meeting people from all over the country and all over the world. We were able to zip-line, horseback ride, ride ATVs near Arenal volcano, eat amazing food, and also give back to the community; there had been a hurricane on the coast side of the island and we were able to purchase basic necessities for struggling families affected by the storm.”
Dr. Tara Mitchell joined The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2020 when she began serving residents in the Lawrenceville area to continue doing the work she finds so gratifying.
“The thing I like best about being in the chiropractic field is being able to help patients live up to their full potential and live life pain-free,” she says. “I love getting to know my patients and their families, and being a part of this wonderful community.”
Dr. Tara is a product of Sterling Heights, Mich., and has worked previously in the Atlanta area. She attended Life University, where she earned her doctorate of chiropractic, and a few miles up I-985 at Brenau University in Gainesville, where she earned an MBA in healthcare management.
Her husband is a supervising attorney in the Solicitor’s office in Gwinnett County, and they have three children, along with three dogs named Bono, Cash, and Jackson, and two cats named Dave and Elton -- all named after their favorite recording artists.
In her spare time, Dr. Tara enjoys spending time at the lake with her family engaged in swimming, boating, or anything that gets them outdoors.
“I have always known that I wanted to be in a health profession and I worked for several chiropractors,” she says of her journey to The Joint. “I loved watching how they were transforming patients’ lives. I wanted to be that person.”
Dr. Tara is excited to be serving her neighbors in Lawrenceville: “I love the patients who come into the Lawrenceville location. I live in this area so I feel as though I am helping the betterment of my own community.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Tara says the one thing she always keeps in her refrigerator is lemon juice for her water and creamer for her coffee.
If she could bring any four people from history together for the dinner party of her dreams, Dr. Tara would include her favorite musician, Dave Matthews, and favorite actor, John Ritter, along with Princess Diana and entertainer Robin Williams. “I have always admired Robin Williams and would love to pick his brain,” she says. “Princess Diana is also someone I always admired and I would want to sit down and talk with her about life.”
One of the most interesting experiences in Dr. Tara’s life was traveling to Ireland with her mom and dad. “I was able to see where they were raised and where my sisters were born,” she says. “It was great to meet family members that I had never met before, and I was in awe of the beauty of Ireland.”
