5 Healthy Date Night Ideas
By Brandi Goodman
The stress of the holidays and the end of the year in general can be tough on a relationship. Planning a date night in the midst of it all may seem like just another task on your to-do list, but this time away together can actually do a lot to help. It may ease some of the tension that's built and help with stress. Plan a healthy date night for you and your partner with these ideas in mind.
Go Dancing
A night of dancing can have the two of you working up a sweat and burning a lot of calories. It's great for stress relief and helping you get your exercise in when you may otherwise struggle to. Even if a dance spot isn't open for the night in question, you can set up an area within your own home and dance the night away together. Turn on your favorite sultry tunes and step to the beat together.
Take a Walk Under the Stars
A late night walk may seem scary alone, but it can be quite romantic with a partner. Take a walk under the stars and hold hands as the two of you converse. It can be a great bonding time. What's even better is going during the holiday season. You can view all of the beautiful Christmas lights on your date night.
Go Horseback Riding
Horseback riding may not seem healthy since you're sitting. The horse is the one doing all the work, right? Actually, the activity does do your body good. Being outdoors enjoying nature is always a welcome activity, no matter how you're experiencing it. It can boost your mood and work to increase your heart health by reducing your blood pressure. Riding a horse is exercise for you as well, though. It can increase your heart rate, burn some calories, and improve your posture.
Have a Picnic By the Lake
A serene setting the lake provides can really ease your stress and help you see the good in life. Have a picnic by the lake for some quiet, romantic time away from the world. Make sure to pack a nutritious meal so you can both keep your minds fed.
Go to a Comedy Show or Movie
Laughter is the best medicine, as they say. Don't be afraid to do something as simple as go to the movies to watch a funny film. A comedy show works, too. You can check out a comedian who will be in town and spend time laughing together. It's a great way to ease the tension the two of you may have been feeling lately.
A healthy date night for your and your significant other can work wonders for your stress levels if you let it. Forget about all your other worries and just focus on the two of you as you enjoy the evening.
