Switch Up Your Home Exercise Routine
By Brandi Goodman
Getting in your exercise for the day doesn't have to mean heading to the gym. Nor does it require following along with a difficult workout video. You can work out at home in beneficial ways. You just need to switch up your routine and find some options that work well for you.
Use Your Furniture
Even if you don't have home gym equipment, you still have everything you need right in your household. The furniture isn't just good for sitting. Do tricep dips off a chair. Put your feet on the couch and your hands on the floor for some angled push-ups or even just a plank. Sit and do some chair exercises. You have so many options.
Get Up and Dance
Dancing is an effective exercise option. Don't just dance to one song, though. Clear the living room floor and spend a while dancing it out to several of your favorite tunes. You'll work up a sweat in no time. You don't even have to dance well. Just move your feet, shake your hips, and dance to the best of your abilities. It will still work wonders for your heart rate.
Buy a Jump Rope and Hula Hoop
Think back to when you were a kid. Jump ropes and hula hoops were some of the most fun inventions you could find. Utilize those things now in your workout. A hula hoop works out your midsection, while jumping provides great cardio. You can try to put the hula hoop over different parts of your body, such as swinging it from each arm or around your neck or calves. It doesn't have to a core-only device.
Utilize Your Stairs
If you have stairs anywhere in your home -- whether it's just a few steps or a long, winding staircase -- use them to your advantage. Stairs make for an excellent workout option. Step up and back down, up and back down, over and over again. Jog up the stairs quickly and make your way back down just as fast. Hop over two steps at once. You can utilize them in so many different ways.
Exercising at home can be as simple as dancing, doing tricep dips off your chair, taking the stairs, or using a jump rope. You have so many options right at your house that will help you burn calories and get your body fit in no time. You just need to devote a little time each day to the cause. Your well-being will thank you.
