Dr. Emily Kate graduated in 2017 with her Bachelor’s of Art with honors and a specialization in Kinesiology from The University of Western Ontario. She then followed her passion for chiropractic by attending chiropractic school in 2017, then graduating from Life University with her Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2020.
Dr. Emily, as she prefers was born in the small town of Cavan, Ontario in Canada, which is a couple of hours northeast of Toronto. Upon moving to London, Ontario to attend The University of Western Ontario she started working on cars and then developed a nagging shoulder/upper back injury from an intense summer of work at Toyota Motor Manufacturing. She then went to see a chiropractor about her injury and it was then that she instantly felt relief in her shoulder. She then decided to help others the same way her chiropractor did. While at Life University, she went through multiple seminars and extracurricular activities to help her better take care of her patients of all ages. Through schooling she was also able to travel to Costa Rica and Jamaica and provide premier chiropractic care to the population.
She started at The Joint in March, 2021 at the John’s Creek Town Center location in Suwannee, GA. She absolutely loves her office and everyone that comes through that door, because for she “loves getting to create a community of health and healing. I see my regular patients and meet new patients every day and it is always a pleasure caring for them and empowering them to live a healthier and pain free life.” When asked her favorite part of her profession, she stated, “The best thing about being a chiropractor is getting to care for and support people on their journey to better health. In most cases people come to us in a lot of pain, looking for pain relief. Chiropractic has an amazing ability to not only provide pain relief, but it also allows for people to function better – improving their overall quality of life!” Being that she learned how to take care of patients of all ages and stages of life through her schooling she has a passion for improving other’s lives, stating, “I love that chiropractic care is for everyone! Whether you are in pain or just looking to add something to yourself care routine – everyone can benefit from regular chiropractic care. Getting the opportunity to impact someone life through chiropractic care is one of my greatest joys and pleasures and it makes coming to work every day that much more fun!”
When she isn’t loving her work-life she enjoys being on the move, “Whether it is outside hiking or biking, going to the gym, cooking for friends and family or going to Lowes and Home Depot and starting a new weekend project – I am always excited to try something new or go on a new adventure.” She has a miniature dachshund, named Eleanor, that lives life with her on the go! When asked about the one thing that stays in her fridge, she said, “Real Canadian Maple Syrup. You never know when you are going to have a craving for pancakes or waffles, OR a last minute brunch!” the coolest thing she has done is “Racing snowmobiles for 2 years in Canada. I got to travel around Ontario and Quebec all winter with my Dad as my mechanic racing at a different place every weekend.”
Dr. Emily Loftus joined The Joint team in July 2022 shortly after graduating from Life University in 2022. She previously was raised in many areas, London, England, Houston, TX, and Portland, Maine, prior to going to Purdue University for her International Business and Business Management degrees. Upon starting at the location of Johns Creek Town Center Dr. Em, as she prefers, has been able to practice her passion, stating “The best thing about chiropractic is the amount of healing it allows the body.”
Dr. Em Loves the office she works at, because “The people are definitely the best part about working at this location.” She has always had a passion for helping others out to be their very best, stating that “I knew I wanted to help people but didn’t want to have a band-aid approach. I wanted to help people help themselves in a holistic way that promoted true health and wellness. My aviation job happened to move me 2 miles down the road from Life University.” Prior to that she was at Purdue University where she started dating her best friend of 6 years and they ended up getting married. Darrick, her husband, and their two dogs love to go hiking together and Dr. Em also enjoys crossfit and horseback riding. Boo, a 12-year-old Jack Russell Terrier. And Squash, a 2-year-old rescue cattle dog / boxer / terrier mix her two beloved dogs that keep them company during their free time!
When asked what is the coolest thing she has ever done she replied, “I went deep ocean swimming with whale sharks off the coast of Mexico. Not only was it amazing how gentle these giants are, but I am also terrified of the ocean, so overcoming that fear to have the experience of a lifetime made the whole experience even more memorable.” She is also a strong believer of hot sauce making everything better, because she is never out of stock of that in her fridge! When she was asked to comprise the perfect dinner party of 4 famous people, she stated “Eminem (I’m a big fan) for his intelligence with words and quick wit. Kevin Hart, because I love his inspiration for helping the public be active and his sense of humor. Morgan Freeman, his calmness and wisdom would calm down the bunch and I think he would be a lovely human to talk to. Jennifer Lawrence, also for her humor, candor, and her love for food.”
