Healthy Living Tips You Haven't Thought of Yet
By Genevieve Cunningham
This is the year for healthy living. Maybe you've told yourself this very thing every year thus far, and you've never been able to make it happen. If this is the case, maybe you've been taking the wrong approach. Maybe you've been focusing too much on the technicalities when you should have been thinking outside the box. If you would like to finally make healthy living a long-term sustainable thing in your life, take a look at these tips that you haven't even thought of yet.
Keep Indoor Plants
Not only does this improve the quality of the air in your home, but indoor plants have been shown to significantly improve moods. There's something about being surrounded by life that keeps people motivated and happy. If you haven't grown a houseplant before, start with something small and easy perhaps an ivy. As you get more comfortable and learn how to keep your plants alive, you can add on with more complicated plants or simply with more variety.
Downsize Your Social Media
Social media certainly has its good points. It keeps us connected and in the know. It provides us with news stories -- both local and worldwide. But for all of the good it brings to our lives, we're beginning to understand the bad sides as well. Social media can make people miserable. If you have Facebook and Twitter and Snapchat and Instagram and ... well, maybe you should cut back. Downsize to your most favorite media outlet -- maybe two if you have to -- and let the rest fall out of your life for good.
Make a Self-Care Plan
You already know that you should be eating healthy and exercising regularly, so don't include those on your self-care list. Instead, fill it with things such as: take a spa day, get regular massages, read 25 books this year, or take one trip to a new location. This kind of self-care is good for the soul. It keeps you grounded and calm. It helps you keep your sanity among the chaos. If you don't already take care of yourself in this manner, it's time to start now.
Of course you want to live a healthy life. We all do! And while focusing on diet and exercise is certainly part of the equation, it's not all there is. Use these tips to balance out your healthy living plan, and start living your best life today.
