Improve Your Health Without Hitting the Gym

By Virginia Laird

The struggle to get healthy can prove to be a daunting task. Many across the nation turn to exercise to help maintain and improve health and wellness. However, there are still some who cannot think of exercise with any type of excitement. This can make improving health and wellness difficult. Fortunately, health and wellness experts have compiled a list of things which can have positive impacts on overall health. There are a variety of things which can be done to improve health without ever needing to set foot in a gym or group exercise class. A few of these tips include:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Increase your green veggie consumption
  • Make sure you are eating enough protein

Drink Plenty of Water

Water is a vital component of improving health and wellness. The body relies on water to maintain proper function and flush toxins. It is advised that you should make sure to consume at least half of your body weight in ounces each day. For those who do not love water, this can prove to be a difficult task. However, it is necessary to maintain proper hydration. If you are one who despises water, it can be helpful to begin with flavored water. With a plethora of selections on the market, you are sure to find one which will suit your taste buds.

Increase Your Green Veggie Consumption

Green veggies may not be popular in your home with your children or even your spouse. However, they are the best when trying to make sure you get enough minerals and vitamins. If your family struggles to eat green veggies, consider disguising them in a recipe. There are also some great kid cookbooks available which help parents disguise vegetables so that children will eat their veggies.

Make Sure You are Eating Enough Protein

How many times have you been guilty of eating too many carbohydrates and sugar. Pizza. Pasta. Pudding. They may be super tasty, but they aren't necessarily high on the health scale in terms of what it takes to put together a super healthy diet. You do want what's best for you and your kids, right? You want to live the longest life possible, right? You do want them to get good grades and outlive you, right? Protein feeds the muscles of the body as well as the brain, so it's obviously very important in being the healthiest person possible. Protein is also what the body burns off first. The body hangs on to carbohydrates, and your spare tire is the storage locker. Although there is a place for carbs in your diet, you must always be mindful to not consume the wrong carbs or too many carbs. The tastiest diet is not always the healthiest diet.

If you are one who struggles with medical issues, it may be time to consider making a few of these changes. In just a short amount of time you may be able to enjoy the benefits.
