Give These Workouts a Try
By Virginia Laird
Exercise is refreshing and energizing. It can help you gain energy needed to make it through your day. Research suggests that routine working out can promote weight loss and improved sleep. Millions across the nation already have workout routines established without the help of fitness professionals. While this can be a good thing, these experts suggest it is a good idea to mix things up from time to time. Changing up your workouts can help keep them lively and exciting. A few things to try, suggested by these fitness experts, include:
- Go for a jog
- Give spin a try
- Take up yoga
Go for a Jog
While some believe that to make jogging beneficial you must be able to run for hours on end, this is quite the opposite of truth. Health and wellness experts suggest that jogging as little as one mile each day can help improve overall health. Other benefits of jogging include weight management, managing blood sugar, and strengthening the cardio system. Because it is summer, it is necessary to jog before the heat of the day sets in. Jogging while it is too hot outside can cause heat-related illnesses to take over your body.
Give Spin a Try
Spin has become one of my favorite classes to take at the gym. For those who have never tried this class, it is one almost entirely done while on a stationary bike. Fitness instructors teach that regular participation in the class can lead to leaner, more toned legs. Spinning also helps strengthen the cardio system. Fitness experts remind those beginning their spin class experience that after the first couple of classes to expect a sore bum. However, this should pass quickly.
Take up Yoga
Yoga is one of my favorite classes, especially on the days that I feel a little extra lazy. This is a slow-paced class that allows you to relax your body and release tension while working hard to tone and shape. Yoga is a great class for participants of all ages and fitness abilities. It will not take long for you to feel the difference in your body definition. If you are one who generally prefers a fast-paced class it can take a couple of classes to fall in love with the slower nature of yoga.
The next time you are at the gym, consider giving one of these workouts a try. You just may find another exercise class you love.
