Meet The Doctors
Dwayne Acoba, D.C., brings his 22 years of caring chiropractic career expertise and more than a decade of teaching experience to the Joint. Born and raised in California, Dr. Acoba has been in the Bay Area for more than 14 years, after living and working in SoCal for 22 years. After teaching elementary school for 11 years, he decided to attend Southern California University Health Sciences in 1996. There, he has worked in a number of successful practices: At Paramount Chiropractic Institute in both Downey and Anaheim, he provided care for as many as 100 patients daily. He also provided subluxation-based wellness care at Aloha Chiropractic in Long Beach, and at The Hollywood Health Place in Hollywood.
While still in Southern California, the Doctor opened a Chiropractic practice servicing those forging elite fitness. Once in the Bay area, Dr. Acoba started to provide care to the Crossfit community helping several athletes attend the Crossfit games who eventually went on to win. Since then, he worked at six Crossfit gyms in the East Bay, serving elite athletes, while accessing the body’s musculature allows him to evaluate functional and movement patterns—and ultimately reset the body’s musculature.
Although not a true fisherman, he loves to try by fishing from a kayak off the coast of California.
Keith Kowalczyk, D.C. is a Massachusetts native who went traveling after graduating UMass Amherst many moons ago. Somewhere along the way he wound up in California. There are no seasons in California, and before Keith knew it – many more moons had passed; so many, in fact, that he had picked up a Master’s degree from USC, a Doctorate in Chiropractic from SCU and built a mobile chiropractic practice all over greater Los Angeles.
Then the pandemic hit. And no one went to work anymore. And so much for the mobile practice.
Dr. Keith had, however, also worked part time for the Joint through the season-less years and saw them only grow during this time. And when the California government stopped letting people go to the beach or the hiking trails, or many of his other favorite places that could only benefit a person’s health, he looked back to Massachusetts where he was surprised to find no one had opened a Joint franchise yet.
Dr. Keith then partnered with his own former chiropractor in California, Dr. Dwayne Acoba, and, spoiler alert – there is now a Joint franchise in Massachusetts.

In his off time (what is that? where did that go?) Dr. Keith participates in endurance events. Ironman Triathlons being his number 1 jam. Dr. Keith is also a practitioner of intermittent fasting. If you have any questions pertaining to diet or exercise, when you are on his table, be sure to ask - he is always more than happy to help.
And if you were ever to look into Dr. Keith’s fridge, you would find a sundry of products from Wholefoods. Not much of a stretch there – Dr. Keith’s Joint franchise is right next to a Wholefoods. You’d also always find watermelon – nature’s perfect food – even when it’s out of season…
