Dr. Daniel Sowada joined The Joint Chiropractic’s network of healthcare professionals in 2016, and landed at the Bloomington location in 2018. He received his doctorate in chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University with an emphasis on health and exercise science.
Dr. Sowada says his a-ha moment in the chiropractic field didn’t occur until after he started practicing. “Once I started adjusting people, and helped them get better from their pains that no other healthcare provider could help them with, was when I knew I had made the right choice,” he says. “It’s incredibly satisfying to adjust someone and providing the patient relief from their pain.
“I often joke when I leave the house by making the comment ‘gotta go save some lives.’ I may not be physically saving someone from death but I may be giving someone their life back by improving the quality of their life with chiropractic and, in turn, they may be doing things they may not have thought possible again. Just doing the Lord’s work!”
Dr. Sowada shares his time with “the most photogenic dogs ever,” he says. “Marley, an English retriever mix, is the chill cuddly one, and Khali, the Labrador/husky mix, is the spunky energetic one.”
He likes working at the Bloomington clinic and providing a great service to his patients. “I love the network of many offices across the country, the very affordable wellness rates, our appreciation for those in the military by offering the military discount, and lately the app being able to see wait times and the current doctor on for the day,” Dr. Sowada says. “But mostly I like the electronic software we use for our notes and being able to do straight chiropractic.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Sowada says the one item that he must keep in his refrigerator is nature’s perfect food. “Eggs are the most complete protein there is,” he says. “Protein equals gains.”
The coolest thing he has ever done, he adds, took place at an athletic event. “I crushed two -- I’m talking moon shots -- back-to-back homers at a softball game on Mother’s Day at the only softball game my mom ever attended for one of her kids,” Dr. Sowada said. “I was more of a speedy defensive player and not really known for home run power, so pulling off back-to-back homers was a feat.”
Dr. Jonathan Beck is committed to improving his patients’ quality of life. While many individuals seek his care for pain relief, Dr. Beck also uses chiropractic methods to restore and maintain overall health and longevity through corrective and preventative care. He says “My adjustments are gentle and low force to ensure patients are as comfortable as possible during the process of bringing them back to their optimal health”.
Dr. Beck received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minnesota in 2003. “I really enjoy staying up to date on the latest chiropractic and healthcare methods so I can utilize what I learn in the clinical setting. My goal is to improve and maintain the health of my patients so they can enjoy life to the fullest!”
Why I became a chiropractor…
“While in high school I helped from time to time in a chiropractic office and became interested in how chiropractic could help so many people with such diverse symptoms” said Dr. Beck. “It amazed me that adjusting a person could set the healing process in motion and people would start feeling great again!”
Improving people’s lives through better health is Dr. Beck’s goal. “I've always been intrigued by how the human body works and at how it can heal itself”, he explained. “I'm even more impressed by how chiropractic care can enhance that healing process!”.
In case you didn't know…
Dr. Beck enjoys downhill skiing, boating, biking and most of all, time with family.
He enjoys all of our Minnesota seasons, with fall his favorite time of year. “I don't even mind winter” he said. “If it's going to snow, SNOW BIG!”
Dr Ellie grew up in Minnesota as an avid athlete and health advocate. This passion lead her to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Health from Miami University in Ohio. From there, she attended National University of Health Sciences in Chicago, Illinois where she graduated with her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. Since then, Dr Ellie has been working toward her Master’s in Business Administration with a healthcare concentration.
Her focuses include developing the market. hiring, training. and certifying our doctors, as well and treating patients in our Apple Valley, Bloomington, Burnsville, Eagan, Maple Grove, & Plymouth clinics.
“My favorite thing about chiropractic is helping those who other avenues has a failed. There is a time and a place for every treatment but most everyone can benefit from chiropractic care.”
In her free time, Dr. Ellie loves to spend time with her husband and son and their two cats. Her family is more than enough to keep her busy!
Dr Ellie became interested in chiropractic through a family member who is also a chiropractor. “I loved how the adjustment got the body moving and relieved pain all in one”.
“I love the Joint’s model. It gives everyone access to quality healthcare, which is so important in this day and age.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr Ellie is a huge Wild fan and goes to as many games at the Xcel Energy center that she can.
When asked what one food she couldn’t live without she replied “sushi. I would literally eat it for every meal!”
Fun fact: Dr Ellie used to race sailboats and has actually won many regattas across the state.
Dr. Andrew Youde joined The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2020 when he joined the East Mesa clinic location. A product of Upper Iowa University who graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree, he earned his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
You can call him Dr. Andrew -- or even “Doc” -- when you drop into the office to discover first-hand the advantages of chiropractic care. “The thing I like best about being in this field is having the ability to work hand-in-hand with patients to improve their health,” he says. “I love working with great people.”
Dr. Andrew was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa, but worked previously in the Minnesota cities of Minneapolis, Bloomington, Woodbury, Roseville, and Plymouth before arriving in Arizona.
Married to wife Britney, who Doc calls “my rock and my motivator,” they have a daughter, a dog, and two cats. His hobbies include walking dog Carly, coloring with daughter Sloane, spending time with family, and golfing.
It was chiropractic that helped Dr. Andrew get over his own health issues that led him to become a chiropractor.
“I was a goaltender for my college soccer team and every spring at our first practice, the ground would be so firm, and with my first dive to the ground to save a shot, I would immediately get a headache,” he says. “I knew there had to be some way -- other than drugs, which didn’t really help -- to alleviate them and to help me play at my best. Chiropractic was the answer that saved me.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Andrew says the one thing he always has in his kitchen is pizza because “it’s the best comfort food.”
If he could bring together any gathering of people from history, he would send invitations to the superheroes of the Marvel and DC universes. He would also include boxing legend Muhammad Ali, chiropractic developer BJ Palmer, and Olympic and World Cup champion soccer goalie Hope Solo. “These people,” he says, “were exceptional within their fields.”
The coolest thing he has done was play semi-professional soccer. “The athletes at that level were exceptional,” he says, “and not many people have the chance to play at that level.”
