Clearing the Cobwebs From Your Brain
By Donna Stark
I'm sure you have spring cleaned your home several times over by now, but spring cleaning isn't just for houses. It can be used for cleaning out your mind too! If you have wished for a fresh start in the past but clung onto your old bad habits instead, a spring cleaning for your mind could be the ideal solution to get you started! So what do you say? Are you ready to sweep out the cobwebs from your brain? Are you excited for a new and improved you? Let's get started then! Take a look at the following things you can do to simplify your life.
Embrace Solitude
Don't worry. I'm not advocating a life by yourself on an uninhabited island. Instead, I am simply suggesting that you learn how to love those times when you are on your own. Being alone affords you the opportunity to reflect and recharge. It gives you those precious, quiet moments where you can sift through the junk and gain a greater perspective on what truly brings you happiness. You may even get the chance to start doing things you actually enjoy.
Keep Track of Things
Are you good at remembering acquaintance's names? Do you constantly forget things at home or are you always running late? Living a scattered life can be exhausting! If you aren't using all of your brainpower trying to remember what time your meetings are, you are definitely using it trying to remember when that big project is due, right? Perhaps it's time to live a calmer life by learning how to use a calendar, how to keep a schedule, and how to write things down on paper so you don't forget them!
Start a Journal
You may not realize how much of your emotions are bottled up until the slightest thing pushes you over the line, and then it is often too late to retreat. Bad feelings, grudges, and stress are often tucked away in our mind because we are too busy to deal with them at the moment, but by taking the time to write in a journal, you may be able to clear out all the negative thoughts that have been buried deep in your brain. Journaling is also a great way to acknowledge everything that is weighing on your heart, and for many people, that can be a great relief!
Clearing the Cobwebs
Are you ready for some more spring cleaning now? Ditch the rags and cleaners and spend some time with yourself. It's the best way to clean and clear out all of those cobwebs that are cluttering your mind!
