Meet The Doctors

Dr. Adam Hughes, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Clayton

Dr. Adam Hughes joined The Joint Chiropractic network of doctors in 2018 when he landed at the Ladue clinic. A biology major at Christian Brothers University, Dr. Adam received his doctorate in 2005 from Logan College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Adam says the thing he likes best about being in the chiropractic field is the contact with his patients: “Helping, and educating, the public on natural methods of health and wellness are what I really enjoy,” he says. “That, and constantly learning.”

Dr. Adam grew up in Memphis, Tenn., and worked there and Nashville before coming to Missouri. He and wife Jackie enjoy their 75-pound pit bull named Connie, and in his spare time, Dr. Adam enjoys time with family, weightlifting, fitness, podcasts, reading and traveling.

Dr. Adam’s first-hand experience with the medical field ultimately led him to chiropractic.

“I had been a pre-med major throughout college,” Dr. Adam says. “”I had known I wanted to go into healthcare and a service industry, but was disappointed when I started working in hospitals. Most doctors I met did not enjoy what they were doing, and I was not impressed with the care many of the patients were getting with drugs and surgery. I was fortunate to meet some local chiropractors while still in college and began learning more about natural methods of healthcare. It was also very apparent that the chiropractors loved what they were doing and were able to help a large volume of people.”

That ability and willingness to help has allowed Dr. Adam to leverage that attitude at The Joint Chiropractic’s Ladue clinic. “Working at The Joint allows the doctor to focus on patient care above all else,” he says.

In Case You Didn’t Know …

Dr. Adam says the one thing he always keeps around the house is a good steak. “Protein,” he says, “is good for the soul.”

So is good conversation, and given the opportunity to sit down with anyone in history over a good steak, Dr. Adam says he would choose muppeteer Jim Henson, Dilbert comic creator Scott Adams, and actors Kevin Smith and Betty White. “I would want to hear good stories,” Dr. Adam says, “and laugh the whole time.”

The coolest thing Dr. Adam ever did took place after college. “I took a cross-country road trip with some friends camping all along the way,” he says. “The Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park, and all the way up the West Coast highways to Seattle. It was great to experience so many beautiful places with good friends.”

Dr. Heather McQueen, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Clayton

Dr. Heather McQueen joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2023 when she became part of the team at the Clayton and South City clinics, where she does the rewarding work of helping people as their local healthcare provider.

“One of the things I like most about the chiropractic field is that I can get people better with just my hands,” she says. “I don’t need any fancy tools, medications, or surgery to get results. It’s very natural and I feel like that’s the best way to treat people.”

Dr. Heather, as her patients call her, has a unique understanding because of the back pain she experienced due to a car accident. “I can truly relate to my patients and that gives me a bigger drive to get them back to a healthy, pain-free life,” she says.

Originally from Claremore, Oklahoma, Dr. Heather describes it as a place where most people treat everyone with respect regardless of the position they hold or who they are. “With an upbringing like that, once I got into the chiropractic field I was very empathetic towards my patients and always wanted to make them feel heard and taken care of,” she says. “I want my patients to feel like their issues truly matter to me.”

Her boyfriend, Dr. Max Sauer, is also a chiropractor, with a practice in Belleville Illinois. They have two boxer dogs – Baybee and Sunee – who they take on hikes whenever they have the chance. In her spare time, she loves reading, hiking, and gardening.

Dr. Heather went to Rogers State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in medical molecular biology. She got a Doctorate of Chiropractic at Logan University in Chesterfield.

“I knew chiropractic was the field for me when I first started shadowing a chiropractor in my hometown,” she says. “I love that we can treat people the natural way, without any medications or surgeries.”

Dr. Heather’s most memorable work as a chiropractor is the opportunity to treat babies. “The first baby I adjusted was very fussy, colicky, and wouldn’t sleep,” she says. “After his first adjustment he was able to sleep and function better overall.”

She loves working with patients at The Joint because they each have a different set of needs. “There’s a nice diversity of issues that I get to treat,” she says. “No two patients are the same.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

She always has Quaker Oats or granola bars stocked in her kitchen.

If she could plan the ideal dinner party including famous guests, she would invite:

Dolly Parton - “I simply love her and admire her.”

Freddie Mercury - “I love his music and because he made a lot of mistakes when he was younger I feel like he could give me some good life advice.”

Abraham Lincoln - “He made such an impact on history. I feel like he would give good advice as well.”

Miley Cyrus- “I am a huge fan and she never cares what people think of her. She could probably give me a good pep talk when I was having a bad day.”

Dr. Heather had one of her greatest experiences when she took a 10-day trip to Hawaii at the age of 19. “I did so many amazing things while I was there and met so many cool people,” she says. “If I had the chance I would do it again. Hawaii showed me how to live life without being so stressed out.”

Hope in the Dark by Pastor Craig Groeschel is one of her favorite books. “It talks about finding positive things in your life when you’re feeling hopeless,” she says. “It’s a source of inspiration when times are hard.”

Some of Dr. Heather’s best advice came from her aunt who said, “You’re going to live your life disappointed if you expect people to do the same for you as you do for them.”

If she could offer advice to others, Dr. Heather would say: “Never give up. It’s the most cliché thing, but it’s true. I accomplished many things when the odds were stacked against me. I didn’t give up even when I felt like the world was against me and I had no support from family. I can’t promise things will be easy, but only that they will be worth it.”

Dr. Kaitlyn Cosby, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Clayton

Dr. Kaitlyn Crosby became part of The Joint Chiropractic team in early 2019 working in our Des Peres, Sunset Hills, and Clayton locations. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Liberty University, and her doctorate of Chiropractic from Logan University with additional training in Diversified, Cox-Flextion Distraction, Thompson, SOT, and Acupuncture.

Dr. Kaitlyn, as she prefers to be called, says “The best thing about being a chiropractor is educating patients on how the body can naturally heal itself without medication.” Additionally she loves being in the Chiropractic field because “I’m able to treat a wide variety of issues; not just back and neck pain.”

A native to the St. Louis area Dr. Kaitlyn grew up in Florissant, MO. When not working at The Joint Dr. Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and 3 kids with the newest addition, Carter Crosby born April 2019. Dr. Kaitlyn has been athletic her whole life and ran D1 track in College; she still enjoys running, along with golfing and weight lifting. There is no surprise she also has a Boston Terrier mix named Nike - great running partner!

Dr. Kaitlyn first decided Chiropractic was for her when “I saw how chiropractic care and regular adjustments impacted the healing ability and performance of injured athletes.”

In Case You Didn't Know,

Dr. Kaitlyn has a twin sister!

Dr. Kevin Rudberg loves his role at The Joint Chiropractic and providing local healthcare services to more than one clinic location, Brentwood MO, Sunset Hills, Clayton, and South City. “The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is having the opportunity to serve the community around myself the way that I would want to be served,” he says. “I love being in a position to educate others about the benefits of a chiropractic lifestyle and seeing that lifestyle changes lives.”

A product of St. Charles, Dr. Kevin met his wife at Logan University, where he earned his doctorate. Before that, he attended University of Missouri.

“As a young kid in and out of urgent care hospitals, I knew I would end up in a healthcare setting doing for others what those nice men and women had done for me,” he says. “I took a nasty spill during volleyball practice my sophomore year of high school and really hurt my back. Because of a bad experience with an orthopedist managing a shoulder injury a year earlier, I refused to see another orthopedist. My uncle, who was a chiropractic patient, recommended I see his chiropractor. Not only did I walk out fixed, but for the first time I felt like someone truly cared that I was fixed and feeling better.

“The chiropractic philosophy was so easily grasped while I was there on that first visit, it felt congruent to how I wanted to live my life. I immediately set my sights on becoming a chiropractor and never looked back.”

Dr. Kevin continues to be active. He loves to work out and spend time outdoors, including camping, fishing, gardening, and beekeeping. He also loves studying philosophy, physiology, and pathology, and cooking and baking.

“My favorite part about being a chiropractor is adjusting patients who are getting their first chiropractic exam and adjustment,” he says. “The look in their eyes and the expressions they have after I have just adjusted them takes me back to that first chiropractic visit I had myself and I can’t help but smile inside.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

If Dr. Kevin could bring together any four people from history together for his ideal dinner party, he would include philosophers Plato, Marcus Aurelius, and Lao Tze, and inventor Nikola Tesla. “From my studies, these men are some of the finest thinkers who have ever walked the face of the earth,” he says. “I’d like to sit down with them and have a nice intellectual discussion about life in their times, what they would think of our global atmosphere and state of society today, and to try to gain a general sense of how they thought, as well as inspiration that led them to become such great historical figures.”

Dr. Kevin became interested in reading about philosophy while at Logan and during the height of the pandemic. He read The Republic by Plato. “It took a couple of reads, and to this day I will go back and listen to parts just to refresh,” he says. “The content of the book really spoke to me about thinking logically, laying out moral foundations, and exposing me to certain topics and discussions that have seemingly been pushed to the back of the minds of most of the world’s population today. For anyone interested in how thoughts and actions define yourself, as well as how they impact the world structure around you, I would recommend the read.”

Dr. Kevin says he always keeps pistachios stocked in his pantry. “They’re a quick and extremely healthy snack, which makes snacking at work or on-the-go a breeze,” he says.
