Meet The Doctors

Dr. Blount received her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO and is Board Certified in Chiropractic and Physiotherapy. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia where her focus was Nutrition and Fitness. When not treating patients in the office you might find Dr. Blount hiking in local parks or enjoying the newest release in theaters on rainy days. Dr. Blount has dedicated her life to helping people experience a life full of wellness through routine chiropractic care which along with eating well and physical fitness are the pillars of true wellness.

Dr. Adam Hughes, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Clayton

Dr. Adam Hughes joined The Joint Chiropractic network of doctors in 2018 when he landed at the Ladue clinic. A biology major at Christian Brothers University, Dr. Adam received his doctorate in 2005 from Logan College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Adam says the thing he likes best about being in the chiropractic field is the contact with his patients: “Helping, and educating, the public on natural methods of health and wellness are what I really enjoy,” he says. “That, and constantly learning.”

Dr. Adam grew up in Memphis, Tenn., and worked there and Nashville before coming to Missouri. He and wife Jackie enjoy their 75-pound pit bull named Connie, and in his spare time, Dr. Adam enjoys time with family, weightlifting, fitness, podcasts, reading and traveling.

Dr. Adam’s first-hand experience with the medical field ultimately led him to chiropractic.

“I had been a pre-med major throughout college,” Dr. Adam says. “”I had known I wanted to go into healthcare and a service industry, but was disappointed when I started working in hospitals. Most doctors I met did not enjoy what they were doing, and I was not impressed with the care many of the patients were getting with drugs and surgery. I was fortunate to meet some local chiropractors while still in college and began learning more about natural methods of healthcare. It was also very apparent that the chiropractors loved what they were doing and were able to help a large volume of people.”

That ability and willingness to help has allowed Dr. Adam to leverage that attitude at The Joint Chiropractic’s Ladue clinic. “Working at The Joint allows the doctor to focus on patient care above all else,” he says.

In Case You Didn’t Know …

Dr. Adam says the one thing he always keeps around the house is a good steak. “Protein,” he says, “is good for the soul.”

So is good conversation, and given the opportunity to sit down with anyone in history over a good steak, Dr. Adam says he would choose muppeteer Jim Henson, Dilbert comic creator Scott Adams, and actors Kevin Smith and Betty White. “I would want to hear good stories,” Dr. Adam says, “and laugh the whole time.”

The coolest thing Dr. Adam ever did took place after college. “I took a cross-country road trip with some friends camping all along the way,” he says. “The Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park, and all the way up the West Coast highways to Seattle. It was great to experience so many beautiful places with good friends.”

Dr. Jessica Smith joined The Joint Chiropractic team of healthcare providers in 2016, and the Clayton clinic family in 2018. A graduate of Logan University, she earned a bachelor’s degree in human anatomy, and a master’s degree in nutrition and physical performance before getting her doctorate in chiropractic.

Dr. Jessi, as her patients know her, could not be more happy than doing what she does. “The thing I love most about chiropractic is helping others feel better and restoring their ability to live the life they want to,” she says. “The second-best thing about this field is helping my pregnant mothers and children. Pediatrics and pregnancy is one of my passions.”

A native of Florissant who worked previously in O’Fallon, Dr. Jessi enjoys volleyball and spending time with her daughter and their border collie/Labrador mix, Colby.

Her first-hand experience led her down the chiropractic path.

“I started going to a chiropractor when I was 11 for headaches,” Dr. Jessi says. “From the moment I walked in I knew chiropractic was for me. From that point on, my chiropractor started mentoring me to be a chiropractor.”

Having worked for The Joint in Sunset Hills, previously, Dr. Jessi loves the work that she’s doing in Clayton: “I like that I can help so many people feel better in an affordable way.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Some people have a sweet tooth, but Dr. Jessi says she’s never without Frank’s Red Hot sauce in her kitchen. “I eat it on everything,” she says.

Given the opportunity to share her love of hot sauce with any four characters from history, Dr. Jessi’s ideal dinner party would include Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, and Jackie Kennedy. “I like that each one of these women were powerful,” she says. “They set their own rules and broke the mold to empower women to be more.”

Not surprising, given her love for pediatrics and chiropractic, Dr. Jessi says the coolest thing she has ever done took place shortly after a birth. “I was fortunate enough to adjust a 2-hour old baby,” she says. “To help someone so small and beautiful was a great experience.”
