The Habits of Energetic People
By Sara Butler
There’s always that one person in the office that is bubbly and ready to go each and every morning. Whether you love them or hate them (or a little of both) don’t you wonder what their secret is? How on earth do they have so much energy all the time? Well, if you’re tired of being tired, then you may want to work on incorporating some of these habits of energetic people into your life!
In a lot of respects, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. If you skip it, then you’re not going to be ready to face your day the right way. But just eating breakfast isn’t enough, what you eat is just as important. Processed foods belong nowhere on your breakfast plate. Instead, reach for foods that will work to nourish you in the hours ahead. A balanced breakfast that promotes stable blood sugar and provides energy is the way to go.
Try a slice of whole-grain toast with an egg or some avocado. Or some smoked salmon and egg. That’ll keep you going all morning long!
Work on Social Skills
Your job might just require you to be “on” at all times and that can take its toll on your mental energy. Some people thrive off of interacting with others while other people find it draining. You can manage this aspect of your work life by working to improve your social skills.
Make a little time each day to advance your social skills. If you can effectively communicate with people, then you may be better able to manage demands placed upon you. Focus on listening, too, as that’s a skill that is highly valued in the workplace as well as out of it. When you learn how to develop your social skills, then you’ll feel like you have more energy to tackle the day.
This one sounds simple but it’s really true. Drinking more water will help you to feel more energetic as your day goes on. If you don’t get enough of the wet stuff, then you may find that concentrating is difficult, that you’re having unhealthy cravings, and that you’re cranky – and that’s a real energy killer!
You need to strive to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water per day. That will help you to feel like you’re ready to go!
Being energetic is not about just one thing you do, it's the combination of little things you do each day to help your energy! These tips should help to get you on right track.
