Grapes and Tomatoes and Cherries: Oh My!

By Brandi Swieter

Grapes, tomatoes, and cherries are all finger fruits that are easy to grab with the hand and pop into the mouth for a quick and healthy snack. Each of these options provides many health benefits that people should take advantage of often. With the many advantages to consuming more of these finger fruits, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be on everybody’s daily list of snack options.

Grapes

Grapes provide countless health benefits. Not only is this fruit just 100 calories for a cup, making it a great snack time choice, but they also contain antioxidants and resveratrol. These components work together to rid the body of harmful toxins and keep it free from cancerous agents. It can even slow cancer that’s already present in the body. They also lower blood pressure and reduce the heart’s risk for developing disease. Eat a whole bunch and enjoy!

Tomatoes

While people have long considered tomatoes a vegetable, they are technically classified as a fruit. No matter what you call them, tomatoes pack the punch when it comes to being beneficial. They contain high amounts of many vitamins, including A, K, C, and B6. Also a good source of magnesium and fiber, the food keeps the body healthy in more ways than one. Many people look to carrots to improve eye health, but tomatoes are good for that as well. With large amounts of Vitamin A, free radicals that harm the eyes can get eliminated.

Cherries

Dark and sweet cherries are two separate kinds, but they both provide similar health benefits to the body. They bring a flavor of sweetness all while providing plenty of fiber and antioxidants. Cherries work to fight inflammation, which is ideal for anyone suffering from joint or muscle pain. They are also great for the heart. The anthocyanins within the fruit lower cholesterol. Tart cherries are the best option for this. With more antioxidants than dark chocolate, this delicious addition to many desserts should be consumed on their own more often. Why not eat some dark chocolate covered cherries while you’re at it for even more advantages.

Eat more of these fruit choices and reap the benefits. With advantages to your health, it’s no wonder more people aren’t praising these delicious snack options. Grapes, tomatoes, and cherries are all better for you than you could imagine.
