Healthy Habits for a Hectic Life
By Sara Butler
How often do you wish you had more hours in the day to do everything you need? When you’re trying to meld a busy schedule with some healthy habits it can make life feel even more stressful. You don’t have to work on discovering time travel in order to be healthy while you’re busy, you can simply start doing a few easy things to make health a part of your day!
Drink Water
Make it your mission in life to drink water all day, every day. That’s because if there’s one sure-fire way to easily improve your health, it’s by drinking water!
Water is good for you skin, it helps your body to operate optimally, and helps you achieve and maintain a healthy weight. In fact, it’s such a big part of your overall health that if you’re feeling tired in the afternoons, it may be because you’re dehydrated.
Always have a water bottle on you so you can sip your way to healthier habits!
Think Before You Drink
Another easy thing you can do to inject a little health into your lifestyle is to reduce the amount of soda or coffee you drink. The caffeine and sugar in these beverages dehydrate you and also give you a rush of energy followed by a crash. Go with green tea or water with lemon or herbs added to it instead!
Reduce Sugar
Sugar lurks quite literally everywhere. If you can cut back on the amount of refined sugar you eat each day, then you can take a big step toward a healthier you. Try subbing out the high-sugar foods you eat with lower-sugar versions or look for healthy snacks with naturally-occurring sugars instead.
Take Health with You
One of the biggest things you can do to support a healthier lifestyle is to take healthy food with you. Stock up on snacks that are easily portable and healthy such as wholegrain crackers with peanut butter, turkey jerky, and yogurt. This can help you skip the vending machines and drive-thru windows when you’re out and hungry.
Plan Ahead
One way to balance a hectic schedule with health is to plan ahead. Sit down at the beginning of each week and plan your meals out for the week. Cook some ahead of time if you can. Try to keep them as simple as possible and then go load up on the ingredients you need so they’re ready and waiting!
No matter how busy you are, health has to remain a priority!
