Meet The Doctors

Dr. Patty Denault, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Southpoint

Dr. Patty Denault began her journey as a local healthcare provider at The Joint Chiropractic in 2020, but it wasn’t until 2022 that she joined the Southpoint clinic location to continue doing the work she finds so rewarding.

“The thing I like best about being in the chiropractic field is getting to help people discover their highest potential of health,” she says. “I love getting to know my patients.”

A product of Appalachian State who earned a bachelor’s in exercise science and graduated cum laude, she earned her doctorate at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Boiling Springs, S.C.

Dr. Denault grew up in Elon, N.C., and worked previously in Orem, Utah. “In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, doing puzzles, crafting, and trying new coffee shops with her husband, who was a classmate in high school. They have two cats and a bunny.

“My uncle, Dr. Timothy Denault, was a chiropractor in Durham for 28 years,” she says. “I spent a lot of time playing in his office as a kid and spending time with him at work. He passed away when I was in middle school, and I always wondered what he truly did and what chiropractic actually was. That led me on a long journey of learning all about chiropractic and I realized I wanted to spend my life helping people like my uncle did.”

In Case You didn’t Know

Dr. Denault says that if she could bring together any four people from history for her ideal dinner party, she would include singers Harry Styles and Lizzo, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, and entertainer Robin Williams: “I think it would be fun, lighthearted, and hilarious.”

The coolest thing done by Dr. Denault took place when she got married -- it took place on the side of a mountain in Zion National Park in Utah.

The one thing she always keeps stocked in her refrigerator is Topo Chico sparkling mineral water: “It’s so refreshing to have at the end of the day.”

Dr. Byron Agapay, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Southpoint

Dr. Byron Agapay graduated from Western Oregon University in 2016 with a Biology degree and later graduated from the University of Western States in 2019 with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He began working at The Joint in 2022. He says, “the best part about being in the chiropractic field is that I get to be a part of a team that helps individuals function at their best! It is such a fulfilling career because I can help someone who is bent over in pain and help them find relief quickly, and help to prevent pain in the future. Best of all: I get to be hands-on with patients and connect with them- a slowly fading aspect of healthcare.”

Dr. Byron’s partner, Kyila, is a graduate student at UNC in the Gilling’s School of Public Health. He has two dogs, Hazel (pit bull/wiener dog) and Kevin (chocolate lab/corgi). The reason Dr. Byron became interested in Chiropractic care is, “I hurt my back in college during a weightlifting class. I injured my back and could not move from the ground. My trainer advised that if I wanted to maintain a healthy relationship with my body, I should see a chiropractor and/or a physical therapist so that’s what I did! It was my first adjustment that helped me get back in the weight room feeling better and stronger than ever.”

One thing Dr. Byron must have in his fridge at all times is eggs. He says, “they are so versatile! It can be a meal in a pinch or used as an enhancer to most foods!” Dr. Byron says the coolest thing he has ever done was paddle outrigger canoes in Hawai’i. He was on the JV and Varsity mixed team at his school. He says, “we would do weekend practices where we would paddle 6 miles away from the island, and then back in. On the way back, we would surf the waves as we got closer to shore and often there would be dolphins chasing our boats and riding the surf with us!”
