Are You a Breakfast Eater?

All kinds of things are said about eating breakfast.  Many say it is the most important meal of the day. Some eat heavy breakfasts under the auspices that it is substantial and will keep them going.  Others eat fairly light with a lot of cereals. Some still grab a donut on the go and feel it simply works for them. No matter what people think about breakfast, it does play an important role in health.  How people incorporate it in their day can make quite a difference in their health. Understanding the hows and whys may be the key to making the best decision.

It Could Help Your State of Mind

When people plan for meals, they should remember that breakfast is a great time to include some things on a regular basis that will boost their brain activity.  Planning well can include potassium, selenium, and magnesium. Consuming foods with these things at the start of the day can help to keep problems such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s at bay.  It also may help to prevent other things related to psychological issues.

It May Help You Lose Weight

Going without food is an unhealthy practice to do each day.  In order to jump start the body, it is good to start with a good supply of vitamins, proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids.  These can help to ramp up the metabolism and keep the appetite under better control. Both of these are big factors in weight gain.  Analyzing what they eat for breakfast can make a big difference. While there may be no magic formula or menu for a perfect breakfast, when people understand what they are trying to accomplish and why, they can plan for a meal that works for them.

It May Cut the Urge for Sugar

Many of us fall into that category of snacking when we don’t really need to.  For some it is a habit, while others actually feel a hunger or craving that just can’t be satisfied.  When people start the day with a reasonable breakfast, and include something such as fruit, they can be sure that they add nutrients as well as top it off with a sweet that can satisfy those cravings.  I have good luck with an apple or banana. It seems to be the right amount of sweet and keeps me from having that desire for sweets the rest of the day.
