2018: A Healthy Start with These Resolutions
By Virginia Laird
If you are someone who loves to set goals and resolutions, you are not alone. Millions across the nation will set out to tackle a variety of resolutions as 2018 gets underway. Research suggests that while many of these goals may be related to financial improvement, the vast majority are centered around health and wellness. Fitness experts have weighed in on the issue, making a few suggestions for easy changes to your lifestyle which have a plethora of health benefits, including:
- Count your calories
- Consume more water
- Make time to workout
Count Your Calories
Calorie counting can be an eye-opening activity. Research suggests that many do not realize exactly how many calories are being consumed at each meal. Without keeping tabs on the calories consumed, it can be easy to pack on the pounds quickly. Those who do count calories can do so using a wide variety of methods, including a food journal or calorie counting apps. It is important to know that the average adult is recommended to consume no more than 2000 calories per day. However, many people do not need this many and stick to a goal of 1,200.
Consume More Water
Making sure to consume enough water is vital in keeping you healthy. The body relies on water to keep it functioning. Water helps to flush the toxins out as well. A healthy amount of water to consume is suggested to be half of your body weight in ounces. If you don’t love water, there are a wide variety of flavors which can be added to spice it up. Be sure you find a way to drink enough water to keep you healthy.
Make Time to Work Out
If you are trying to seriously improve your health, making time to exercise is vital. However, there is no need to run out and join a gym. Taking a brisk walk through the neighborhood is a great place to begin an exercise routine. If you find it difficult to follow through, personal trainers recommend you find a workout buddy. This should be someone who will encourage you to exercise when you least feel like it.
Don’t let this year slip away without taking control of your health and wellness. You are never alone in this battle. Now get out there and start getting healthier today.
