5 Easy Ways to Prep For Your Morning

By Stepy Kamei

Some people are morning people -- then, there are the rest of us. Most of us can agree that waking up is hard to do. Fortunately, there are tips and tricks that can help make mornings go smoother and easier. However, one of the best things you can do for your mornings is to prep the night before! Read on for some helpful hints you can use during your evening routine for less frenzied mornings.

Shower the Night Before

One of the easiest ways to save time in the mornings is by moving your shower to the night before. Taking a shower (or, if you're feeling super indulgent, a bath) as part of your evening routine can have two benefits. Not only will you have more time to get ready in the mornings, but it can soothe you to sleep sooner and faster, so you can get more rest for an even more refreshed morning.

Plan Your Outfits

After taking a shower, you can pick out the clothes you want to wear the next day and set them aside. Make sure to check what the weather is supposed to look like, and plan accordingly. Set your outfit on a special rack in your closet or hallway, or just lay it out neatly on the couch before you go to bed. You should include what bag you want to bring, as well as what you need to pack in that bag.

Prep Meals and Snacks

Speaking of what to pack for your busy day, you should include your meals and snacks as well! In the rush of the morning, it can be easy to not have time to pack a truly hearty and nutritious lunch, leaving you reaching for salty snacks and frozen meals when you inevitably get hungry later in the day. Eating unhealthy and highly-processed foods ultimately isn't good for your health, so be sure to take the time the night before to prepare a meal that's balanced and full of healthy nutrients such as protein and fiber.

Make Your Alarm a Challenge to Find

Ready for a super easy trick to get you up and out of bed? Place your alarm far away from your bed. Whether this means the opposite side of your bedroom, or even a different room altogether, it'll force you to get up and out of bed to turn off the noise.

Plan an Exciting Award For Yourself

Finally, it can really help to have a reward motivating you. Feel free to get creative here! For instance, maybe you'll be motivated if you promise to treat yourself to a bowl of ice cream after work as long as you remember to prep a healthy meal the night before. Figure out what will work for you, and set up a positive reinforcement system for yourself.
