How to Hydrate If You Don't Like Drinking Water

By Paul Rothbart

Most people are aware of the necessity to stay hydrated. The amount of water recommended each day may seem like a lot. According to my Fitbit, I need to consume 64 ounces a day. As I have always enjoyed drinking, this is not a problem. But there are many people who really don't care for drinking water. Do they have to force themselves to down multiple glasses daily? The answer is no. There are other ways to hydrate without chugging water.

Try a Smoothie

Smoothies are delicious and if you make them right, contain plenty of water. Yogurt is tasty, healthy, and can help hydrate. Many fruits and vegetables also contain water. Try peaches, blueberries, strawberries, and cucumbers. You can get the flavors of foods you love while carefully hydrating your body.

Eat Soup

Soup is liquid and contains plenty of water. Rather than the water, you can taste the flavor of the broth and all the yummy ingredients. In the summer if you are not looking for a hot meal, try gazpacho. This delicious soup is served cold and is packed with vegetables that are loaded with water.

Oatmeal for Breakfast

Oatmeal is a nutritious food that is good for heart health and very filling. It can aid with weight loss. When cooking it, the oats soak up large amounts of water so your breakfast will help you hydrate. You can also add various fruits for flavor and they will also contribute to your water intake. For extra hydration, try sprinkling chia seeds into your oats. They soak up 10 times their weight in water.

Drink Milk

You may not think of it as a hydrating beverage, but a study conducted at McMasters University found that milk is more hydrating than water. It contains electrolytes, protein, and carbohydrates and is great for your overall health.

Make Fruit Popsicles

In the summer, you need more hydration and you can get it with a tasty treat. Liquify your favorite fruits in a blender or food processor, put them in an ice cube tray and freeze them. Fruits like watermelon, strawberries, and blueberries make delicious, hydrating popsicles that can also help cool you off.

Staying hydrated is vital for many aspects of good health. The amount of water needed is too great for some people who just don't enjoy drinking it. You can get all the hydration you need without sipping a drop of water by trying some of these substitute methods. Get your hydration and enjoy every minute of it.
