How to Easily Add Water to Your Day

By Brandi Goodman

Hydration is important for overall health. Getting enough ounces of water each day can be tricky for some people though. You need to find ways to easily add water to your day so you're staying hydrated and feeling good. A lack of hydration can lead to a number of unwanted symptoms, making it imperative that you get enough water each and every day.

Keep Water With You Everywhere

It's going to be hard to drink enough water when you're out and about. You never know where a drinking fountain may be available or even whether it will work. Bring water with you everywhere you go so you always have a drink on hand to quench your thirst. You can get a cooler bag to keep in your car so the water bottle doesn't get warm.

Enjoy Water-Rich Foods

So many foods are water-rich, meaning they are composed of a large percentage of water. Fruits and vegetables will especially fall under this category. Add watermelon, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, kiwi, and other fruits and veggies to your daily menu so you can keep your body hydrated.

Try Infused Water

Not everyone enjoys drinking water. It may be easy to do when it's hot outside and you need to replenish what you're losing, but it could prove harder to drink enough when you're indoors and don't particularly feel like drinking something plain. You can try infused water instead. Get a pitcher and fill it with water. Add in some fruit slices or herbs that can help enhance the flavor. Let it sit in the fridge overnight and you'll have a tasty drink that provides the hydration you need without making you overindulge on sugar.

Track Your Water Intake

If you find yourself struggling to get the recommended eight cups of eight ounces of water each day, start tracking. Tracking your water intake can help you ensure you're actually getting the recommended amount and drinking what you need throughout the entire day. It can also help you see which times you seem to drink the most and which times need some work so you know where to add another cup in.

With so many foods made up of water, and plenty of ways to make it easier to drink some, you should always be able to stay hydrated. Keep these things in mind so you can maintain your hydration levels and remain in good health as much as possible -- especially in the summer heat.
