A Healthy You: It's What's on the Inside That Counts
By Donna Kostiew
I’ve been experiencing a lot of pain in my back and neck lately. I’m not sure what exactly has changed in my routine for the pain to manifest and get worse, but there it is … reminding me every day that it is not ready to go away. I was on my way to see my chiropractor at The Joint Chiropractic when I realized that I had been hiding the fact that I was in so much pain. It was as if I was living two lives, and actually, haven’t we all lived two lives at one point or another? The two that I am speaking of are the outside you and the inside you.
The outside you is what others see first. We dress it up, work it out, put it into play, and pamper it through and through. This outside you is usually always close to perfect. It’s what we want to impress on others. The inside you, on the other hand, is easy to ignore. We don’t pay so much attention to it because, well, nobody is going to see it. It is something we can hide from our family, our bosses, our coaches and our friends. There are times when we become so good at faking “being well” that we can even deceive ourselves for a bit.
But it all catches up with us eventually in the form of illness, injury, or pain. One way that you can give as much attention to the inside you as you do to the outside you is through chiropractic care. Chiropractic care is a safe, natural and effective treatment that helps to improve your:
- Immune System
- Sleep
- Stress levels
- Posture
- Mood
- Pain levels
- Organ Function
Finding a chiropractor that you are comfortable with is a perfect starting point to correct any damage the inside you might have or to begin a proactive approach to protecting your health. The majority of the benefits that come from chiropractic care are due to patients receiving chiropractic adjustments. These adjustments work by helping to place your body in its proper position, and by doing so, this allows your body the chance to heal itself and prevent injury.
The side effects of an adjustment are minimal, and may include:
- Improved quality of life
- Increased activity
- Relief from pain
- Decreased illness and injury
Those are some pretty good side effects. Chiropractic care has also been shown to reduce the need for potentially addictive prescription medication and surgery. It really is a beautiful thing to see our bodies do exactly what they were designed for … to restore and heal itself naturally. Great health truly is an inside job.
