Dr. Spell knew chiropractic was his calling after witnessing its impact on his own family. When his mother was injured in an accident during his college years, chiropractic care played a significant role in her recovery. Seeing her regain her health inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others experience those same benefits.

One of Dr. Spell’s favorite things about being a chiropractor is the freedom to help people anywhere. As he says, “The best thing about being a chiropractor is that I can work anywhere, anytime, and I always have my work tools, my hands, with me.” He also believes that the profession keeps him active and healthy, joking that it’s a career he’ll never truly have to retire from.

Throughout his career, Dr. Barker has cared for patients of all ages and worked with athletes at every level, from recreational competitors to professional players. His experience includes supporting professional baseball and football organizations and serving as a treating provider for the U.S. Decathlon Team. This extensive background has shaped his understanding of movement, performance, injury recovery, and the individualized needs of active patients.

Your first visit includes a consultation, exam, clinical assessment, and adjustment with a licensed doctor of chiropractic. Took my soon who was having some back pain. The Doctor was very nice and help my son out. I was pleased with everything until it was time to leave. The receptionist seem very nice but then got very pushy about me getting a membership for my 12 year old son. When I declined the membership the smile left her face and she became rude and talk to me like I was stupid for not getting a membership. My experience with this particular location has improved since I first started coming. There were some challenges with consistency in terms of being open and letting people know when the location would be closed. However, the communication has improved tremendously, and when I did bring the issue up, they were gracious enough to credit me back some of my adjustments. I have been consistently coming to the location and the doctors have been very helpful and I’ve seen physical improvement. I’ve decided to continue with The Joint more so because it is much more convenient to be able to get in and get seen by someone when I’m experiencing a lot of pain. It’s a much more efficient and cost-effective process than going to a traditional chiropractor.

woman at front desk was unprofessional and rude to my mother after backtracking on her own words. she had asked us for x-rays and then asked for my diagnosis? mom told her we didn’t have x-rays to which she replied while looking at me, “i was talking to your daughter.” while waiting in the lobby, her friend from next door came in, and they started chatting about a local homeless man picking fun at him. they were extremely loud and there’s other people in the lobby besides just us. she also proceeded to ask me before this what my hospitalization was for, yelling it at me from behind the desk instead of just asking me discreetly if i could fill out what it’s for. by the time i had been waiting 30+ min, granted yes i was a walk in and there was people with appointments and i respect that, but after all this waiting and unprofessional and uncalled for behavior from the staff i told my mom we were leaving. they asked if we were leaving as we walked out, and we went outside and talked about it. my mom got in her car and left, but i went back in and told her, “i hope you don’t speak to all patients the way you spoke to my mother. your attitude needs to be checked, have a good day” to which she reply’s, “well ur mother was rude to me first and your now banned nationwide from all joint chiros!”, while she can’t even look up from her computer screen and talk to me. this facility’s front desk staff is a joke and i have never been anywhere that i’ve had someone be that rude and aggressive towards me, when she was the one who started this whole thing by talking to us like we’re aliens. i plan to be in touch with management because this was not my first time in there, that she blatantly talked disrespectful to me and my mom, just because we aren’t regulars here with a package. extremely disappointed and in disbelief that someone like her is working front desk.

This place is a joke. I went in and filled out the paper work. Didn’t lie. I have felt dizzy before (I’m anemic it happens from time to time) felt numbness down my arms (when my neck is out, goes away once I’ve been adjusted) currently have a migraine (bc my neck is out). Have been seen by several chiropractors before. Never once have they told me they don’t feel comfortable adjusting me bc of these symptoms. INSANE!!!! Waist of time. Set a first time appointment up for today. Was literally on the way to the appointment. Was right down the street from the office. 10 minutes before the appointment. Ok so I guess they are off to a bad start with me. I made an appointment at 10 am. I’ve never been to the Joint and I usually go to a different chiropractor. But I’ve been dealing with a stiff neck for a few days and they are close to where I live so I figure I’d give it a try because the pain is intense. I arrive at 9:50 assuming that if they take appointments at 10 o’clock, the doors will be open. But that isn’t the case. As I was waiting in my car, I see them put a sign on the door saying they won’t open until 10:45. But what about the appointment? I booked online at 10 AM? I also tried to call and no one is answering the phone but I saw someone walk in. Don’t think I’m going to try again. It was a waste of my time. I left work for nothing.

My work takes me to various hospitals in NC, SC, and GA. I joined The Joint when it first opened. The Aiken office is without a doubt, the worse. They often close early during the week and are only open til 3 on Saturday. They are closed on Sunday. One of the reasons I joined was i could go to any office location when I travel AND they were open til 7 pm on Saturday and open on Sunday. Not this location. Most of the receptionists don't look up from their phone, even if you are standing right in front of them. I drive to the Augusta office when I can and even go to one of the Columbia offices when I am there.

I had a terrible experience at Joint Chiropractic in Aiken, SC. The customer service was awful. They refused to us , despite the fact that the office wasn’t busy. We got there before 6:00 no other patient in the office besides myself and an older man that had walking in after me. There was no sign indicating they stop taking new clients at a certain time. The staff member (Allie) we spoke to was unhelpful, lazy, and rude. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on our experience. Dr Allie is terrible! I canceled my membership due to this interaction.

They're all too rushed and vanilla at this location. They're not busy most the time, so spending a little more time with each person shouldn't be a big deal. Most the time, in and out under 2 mins even when store is completely empty and don't really feel they've done much or really feel any different.

The former chiropractor who was there adjusted me so magnificently (cracked like a glowstick), but he’s retired now. I believe I saw Dr. Alice on my most recent visit and left no better than when I walked in. After not a single pop or adjustment she tells me she wants me back the following Monday…huh?? Now that the former chiropractor is no longer here, they have Dr. Austin and Dr. Allie there. Both of these doctors have helped me with my pain tremendously. I feel welcome by Wendy and her smile! I realize that everyone may have different results but I must say that these folks have made me feel better than I've felt in years. Katie the, operations manager, was so nice and helpful from the second I walked through the door. Dr. Alexandra Johnson explained clearly and concisely what I was experiencing and why. She then started fixing the issue. I'm so glad that my wife talked me into going and I actually can't wait to go back! Update - it has been three months since my first visit and a few days ago, I realized that I am walking without excruciating pain. After years of intermittent levels of pain being a part of daily life, it was a profound moment. I highly recommend giving these folks a try.

Allie is the best!! I haven’t gone in over a year due to not liking it or finding the right chiropractor but as soon I walked in to Joint Chiro and she said she was doing my adjustment, I was pleasantly surprised! Front desk clerk was very rude. I told her the system to input my son’s information was not working. I told her this twice. She was snarky both times as well. Her tone when she said I could do it on paper was highly uncalled for. She treated me like I was completely incompetent. Dr. Amber is absolutely delightful and incredibly knowledgeable. I was barely able to walk and now I feel... Well I can walk, which is more than I was hoping for. The secretary is really unpleasant though. Very inflexible and also condescending. I came in for a one off visit and she suggested that they would not treat me again if I didn't come in at least once a week. Luckily I'm not being adjusted by her. The chiropractors here are great. Thinking on it more, the secretary was just... Astoundingly rude, to the point that I don't want to come back if she's working that day. I asked if she could try running my HSA card and see if there's enough of a balance on it to pay for the visit and she said "I'm not an ATM." Which, like, obviously? Do y'all never have a card decline? She was also very adamant and snotty that I couldn't split payments across two cards despite every other establishment on the planet being able to do so. I mean it's fine if that's actually the case but it is irritating on top of everything else.

I have used this location since it first opened and have been satisfied except for the fact that they cannot keep a consistent schedule. I understand that things happen and closing is necessary but I have been patient and rolled with the punches as they have had to work through understandable staff changes and unexpected closings due to short staff. I draw the line at a receptionist that is rude to me and treats me like I have inconvenienced her. When I complained Dr Gregg took no responsibility for her behavior and just told me how great she was. Then asked what I hoped to gain from my complaint. I am sure she is great at what she dies but that does not mean that she conducts herself professionally to your clients. Previously I have been told that they have no corporate number to complain to and that I would have to speak with the owner. So I have requested to speak with the owner and I have followed up 4 times between the N, Augusta location and Aiken and for over 30 days. He still has not made a single attempt to reach out to me. Only during one of these calls to N Augusta to get in touch with the owner was I told that they have a Corporate phone number that I can call. I have had no return call from them. So I went in to cancel and the receptionist never even bothered to try and save my business, No. apology offered, and when I asked her to confirm the corporate phone number so that I could make sure I had the correct one she told me I could look it up on the web site. I am not going to pay for a service that I can not get half the time because they are closed or because a chiropractor is over two hours late or they have to close for training more than twice a month ( why would you close for this when you cant be open to treat the clients you have, Must not be customer service training. ) and I am going to be treated like I am an inconvenience to the receptionist when I come in and she has to stop what she is doing to check me in. I have given these guys more than enough time to address this and they have treated me like I am just a number to them and I am not worth saving as a client. to this date, I have been a client since 2018 and have paid over $3,000.00 since I first joined and It is not a concern to them nor is it important enough for them to even address my. complaint. so i cancelled, I am not using. another location. i feel they could have corrected this issues and offered an apology. It is shows me that they try to avoid complaints when they tell me they have no corporate phone number but another location tells me different. Save yourself the trouble. Go to a professional chiropractor. You may pay a little mote but at least the Dr and staff will treat you with respect and professionalism. I am sure a professional would not have a conversation about another patients health plan in front of a waiting area full of people. a professional operation would also care about the quality of service that is provided by the receptionist also not respond " what you hope to gain from this?" when you complain. This is a big fail on the staff of this location, The owner for refusing to return my 4 phone messages and this locations denial that there is a corporate office above them that I could have reached out to.

Concept seemed like a deal, but ever since I signed up for the monthly subscription, they have been closed for a number a reason - family death, renovation, repair etc. I guess I should have purchased by number of adjustments instead the 'four per month deal,' cause they have been closed when I could make the time to go over. I think they should let unused adjustments roll over to the following month if they are to be closed whenever something comes up.

This location seems to live by whatever schedule they decide for the day. They post "closed early" and "hours of operation for next few days" on the door. So you never know until you are actually at the location. Very inconvenient, the opposite of what they are supposed to be offering.

My first ever visit to a chiropractor! I was in so much pain before arriving for my visit. Carrie was awesome, greeted me with a beautiful smile. Carrie helped tremendously not only with paperwork. As well as to assure me that they will be able to help me feel sooo much better.. Dr.Nolen was superb. Amazing bed side manner . He explained everything as he was adjusting me. He relieved so much of the pain after the first visit. I was able to drive home without having a throbing pain while I drove. I walked in this morning second time being there . I didn’t sign up for a package on my first visit because I was a little confused on what they were trying to do so I just paid cash . I’m in there this morning, I’m third in line mind you it’s a walk-in office . This lady ( Karen ) walks up to the receptionist Christina and says she doesn’t want to wait has other things to do . The receptionist then walks to the back to notify Dr. Maia, the chiropractor. He then calls her back in front of two other people waiting patiently. Then he calls back the man supposedly right before me he was there for a bit first visit he purchased one of these packages. Well the credit card machine went down so Dr. Maia comes from the back complaining and cussing . He then copied the mans debit card or credit card and told him he would run it when the machine was back up. Then he went back to the back and came back with a chart and called the person that came in after me . I was shocked I raised my hands like what is going on here . He told me that since I didn’t have a credit card on file I couldn’t be seen . I then said I would pay with cash he declined my offer like cash was no longer good . I would definitely not recommend this place .

I called at 11am and asked if I could make an appointment and the receptionist told me they take walk ins for new patients and 530 is the latest they accept walkin new patients. I just walked in at 5 and was informed that they are not able to take any new patients. I was confused and started to ask why and then they said the payment system was down as well. I felt pushed off. The dr that i was planning on seeing Maia I believe is his name was standing along side the receptionist. My impression of this business is not good off the rip. As someone who doesn't have health insurance, this place is a godsend. I went years ago for really bad sciatica pain, and the visits worked wonders! I had stopped going for a while, but I went back when my condition began to flare up again after a handful of years. I saw a new doctor who wasn't there when I originally went, but in one visit she fixed a problem I had for years, even after I went years ago. I cannot get over this. For ten years I had a stiffness towards my tailbone, like a small metal rod was in my veritabre, and in a single visit, it is GONE. It has been ten years since I could comfortably touch my toes! I could cry! :')

I used to like this place you’d walk-in, get seen, pay if needed and, walk away. Not anymore, I walked in and first thing I said was “I need an adjustment just one. I’ll pay!” I bent over to relieve my back and the Gucci girl at the front desk was more worried about selling me a 6 visit package then getting me treatment. She didn’t even try to stop me to get me seen for my back pain and one adjustment, as I was walking away. Just said okay. I cried the whole way home. Will be going somewhere else.

So if I could rate this zero stars I would. My fiancee has been in EXTREME pain from his neck for 2 weeks now. He went to the joint in Aiken and refused to see him unless he bought 6 visits. They told him the owner doesn't want them to do single visits anymore.... this makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. I'm pretty sure he's not the only one who has wanted to only commit to one visit, which costs more in the long run. So they would rather force you to buy multiple visits and lose the business if you choose not to..What a joke... I will NEVER SEND MY BUSINESS TO THEM AGAIN.

Dr. Maia is awesome. Go see him. ? I don't usually have positive reviews for the Joint establishment as a whole, but he's excellent, knowledgeable, and above all, very kind. I've seen a plethora of chiropractors since I was a young child, and I can confidently say that he's a wonderful one. 1st adjustment was today. Dr was very thorough and gentle . Was a bit nervous since I have had past experiences at other chiropractic offices where they twist and jerk you usually adding more pain to your problem. Adjustment was made by a drop of the table and a device that gently moves your spine. There's NO high pressure sales and wait time is minimal. Love not having to make an appt. My husband is receiving treatment for sciatica and in 3 weeks is free of pain. If you are experiencing back pain this is THE PLACE TO GO No high pressure sales

Do not get care from this place. For one Chiropractic adjustments from most places aren't 2 minutes with no care as to what hurts. But this place has scammed 240$ from me and my wife collectively. Called and got the run around for 3 months for the owner and front desk to continue to keep the scam going. Called corporate and will wait to see what happens. Google reviews of the joint all say the same thing across the nation. It's a scam and be careful. I've been told by my orthopaedic and family docotr it's a scam as well. Be aware!

I have been receiving chiropractic care for most of my life. With stubborn muscles my body does what it wants. I have been extremely happy since I joined The Joint for several reasons. The cost is very fair along with the convenience of the hours allows me more frequent visits. The multiple locations has worked well for me as I have family located in two of the other locations. Aiken is my home and the Joint I visit most. Also I have found it beneficial to have more than one person adjust me as the different styles are working well for me. ? Great job, keep it up.

I showed up at the joint as a new patient only 45 minutes from closing time. Usually the doctor will not see new patients that late because it takes extra time. I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck and drove 40 minutes desperate for some kind of relief, so they agreed to go ahead and see me. I signed up for a plan and I've gone back twice now and gotten great relief and great advice.

These guys have got a pretty good scam. When you sign up for the monthly program the visits get shorter and shorter and when you cancel they charge you an extra months worth of visits and claim that they explained that when you joined. In addition the receptionist needs to learn how to deal with customers. If you want real treatment and a fair deal go some place else.

When I first started going to the Joint, it was great. The exams were thorough and I always felt better after my visits. After a while, it seemed that my visits were getting shorter and shorter. I decided that I didn't need to go four times a month, and tried to cancel my membership. I remember the paperwork I had signed said to give a months notice. I did so. I was told that if I canceled my membership that I would still be charged and I would not get the visits I paid for. The receptionist then convinced me it was a better idea to put a freeze on my membership for three months. I had forgotten when my membership resumed, and instead of notifying me that my freeze was over, they continued to draft my account and resume my membership. I had contacted the Joint through email and stated I wanted a refund and to cancel my membership. The Joint said that I could not get a refund, but they could put in a request for a cancellation and I would not be billed again. This is the next month, and I was billed! I emailed the Joint again, and told them I was sick of going through all this cancellation and billing BS, and they responded back in a snarky manner. They did agree to refund me and actually cancel my membership this time. They also said they were working under assumptions, and pinned the blame on me. What a wonderful business; working under assumptions and blaming paying customers.The receptionist is not knowledgeable and seems to just make stuff up as a result. I would not recommend going here.

I came in to see Dr. Odom when I could barely turn my head due to neck pain. The office is conveniently located and I did not have to have an appointment. I felt better after the first visit. Dr. Odum is the best chiropractor I have ever worked with. He really cares about his patients and wants to see them better.
