6 Heatlh Benefits of Cauliflower

While not everyone has a taste for cauliflower, the seemingly white version of broccoli, some people do enjoy the nutrient-rich vegetable. With low calories and a high amount of vitamins, the head of the cabbage-like plant should get consumed more often. At least six health benefits are brought on by cauliflower.
High in Vitamins
Plenty of vitamins make up the nutrient list for cauliflower. Vitamins C and K are especially high contents, providing 77 and 20 percent of the recommended daily value in just one cup. The included Vitamin B6 offers 11 percent.
Flourishing With Fiber
Fiber is needed to keep the digestive tract working and promote a feeling of fullness. Cauliflower makes an excellent source, giving three grams in just one cup. This provides around 10 percent of the daily need.
Thanks to the many antioxidants found in cauliflower, the growth of cancer cells can be slowed. Antioxidants work to fight bad cells in the body. They also help to prevent other diseases as well, such as heart disease. Most cruciferous vegetables provide this benefit, making them an important part of the diet.

People who have a choline deficiency often have a greater chance of developing neurological disorders, as the nutrient assists in brain development. They may also experience liver or heart disease, since choline prevents the buildup of bad cholesterol. Not many foods contain it, but broccoli and cauliflower are among those that do.

Many dieters search for low-carb options. Cauliflower is one of them. It has far fewer carbs and calories than legumes and grains, which are some of the popular food choices. Rather than eating rice, for example, individuals can grate cauliflower and cook it to make a similar substitution. People get to enjoy their “rice” dish with an added serving of vegetables.

Since cauliflower has a high amount of fiber, it can slow digestion and make people feel fuller longer. It also has a high water content, making it a great weight-loss food. With a low amount of calories, this vegetable works well for those on a diet.
