Dr. Jeffery Touchet joined The Joint Chiropractic team of local chiropractors in 2015 with his arrival at the Lexington clinic location. He earned his doctorate of chiropractic from Life College in Marietta, Ga.

“What I like most about being in the chiropractic field is seeing a patient’s quality of life improve, be it increased potential when exercising, better work/life performance, walking without pain, or concentrating without headaches,” he says. “I love the fact that patients entrust the health of their family and friends to my care.”

He and wife Sydni have five children, a cat, a dog, and plenty of fish in the aquarium.

In the spare time that he has, Dr. Touchet enjoys the cinema, watching ice hockey, playing video games, cooking and trying different cuisines.

“I originally decided to become a healing practitioner while in high school after a field trip to Life University’s College of Chiropractic,” Dr. Touchet says. “A year later, I was a new Christian and realized that I had been called to help people through the wonderful gift of chiropractic.”

Dr. Kayla Cooper has had a wide reach as a member of The Joint Chiropractic team since joining the staff in March 2019; she works out of several different locations, including Forest Acres, Killian Crossing, Harbison and Lexington.

She majored in biology and earned a minor in chemistry at Presbyterian College in Clinton before getting her doctorate of chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida.

“The thing I love about being in the chiropractic field is being able to offer all people help regardless of anything else; everyone with a spine living in earth’s gravity is a great candidate for an excellent chiropractic patient,” she says. “It’s also gratifying to help with major current crisis, specifically the care of our military members and veterans and those who seek musculoskeletal pain relief through opioids. These populations of people are primed to be taken care of by excellent chiropractors. In doing so, our country will be healthier and have better posture.”

A product of Lexington, Dr. Cooper worked previously in Irmo and Orangeburg. In her spare time she loves traveling, fishing, going to the beach, and relaxing with friends and family, including husband Tyler, their two sons, and a German short-haired pointer named Rambo.

She had chiropractic ingrained in her at an early age.

“I was born in Iowa, less than an hour away from the oldest and first chiropractic college, Palmer,” Dr. Cooper says. “As my sister and I moved around with our family, our mother would always take us to see the chiropractor no matter where we lived, and she would call around looking for a ‘Palmer doc.’ So I knew that if I was going to become the ‘family chiropractor’ that my family always envisioned, I would go to Palmer.

“After college, I was unsure what to do, and was enrolled into the RN program at Midlands Tech. I realized one day that I wouldn’t be an awesome nurse or MD because I am very emotional and not good at bad news -- or bodily fluids. It was the second summer after I graduated from Presbyterian College that I started chiropractic school at Palmer in Florida. ... It was a perfect fit for me and I loved it.”

In her current role, she is able to practice where she grew up.

“I thoroughly enjoy being able to treat people from all sides of Columbia and enjoy being able to explore different sides of town as well,” she says.

If she could have any four people from history at a fantasy dinner party, Dr. Cooper says she would include chiropractic pioneer BJ Palmer, Hippocrates, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, and baseball player Jim Abbott.

“Palmer developed this fine profession we call chiropractic, and Hippocrates was the father of modern medicine, so I would love to have a scholarly discussion with them about the current state of health and healthcare in the world,” she says. “Oprah is one of the most influential figures of my lifetime. I have watched her since I knew how to watch a television, and her journey as a woman in a man’s world is one that profoundly inspires me.

“As for Jim Abbott, I had his baseball care when I was a young girl, and the idea that he can become a major league pitcher with only one hand is very inspirational; what an example to the world that you can reach your dreams no matter your physical limitations.”

The coolest thing she has ever done, she says, “was creating two brand new humans.”

“Outside of that, participating in a 10-day clinic abroad in the West Indies was the coolest thing I’ve done. I had the privilege of being selected to go to an island called Bequia -- the second island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines -- to treat the population with chiropractic care,” Dr. Cooper says. “The whole island is 7 square miles and economically categorized as third world. The people were so excited that we were there, and we went to all corners of the island and every school on the island.

“Treating so many kids was the highlight for me. Watching them and their teachers and parents enjoy the benefits of chiropractic, which they do not typically have access to, was a real life-changing experience. The pure joy and happiness that exuded from the population on Bequia is something I try to carry with me all the time.

“And one of the bars had whale vertebra as bar stools. Coolest thing I have ever seen.”

I went to The Joint Chiropractic in Lexington on Thursday June 25th. I was in incredible pain with my lower back, only able to move with my wife's assistance & a cane. Dr. Touchet happened to see me struggling to get out of the car, so he came to me at the car. He asked what was going on & even told me he wasn't sure i was in the right place for my condition. Dr. Touchet assisted me out of the car & inside. He had me fill out some quick paperwork & got me right back. Dr. Touchet questioned me for about 15 minutes to find out exactly what was happening, then decided he could help with my issue (a disc issue in the lower back). I was able to leave that morning without any assistance, still hurting but able to walk unassisted, thank God! Dr. Touchet put me on a plan to come in 3 times a week until my pain was gone. I have stayed with his plan over the last 2 weeks & now I am pain free in my lower back! I have been going to Chiropractors since 1994 & I can say I have never been treated so well by any of them as I have been by Dr. Touchet. I've noticed over the last 2 weeks the Chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic of Lexington focus on your individual problematic areas, without all the unnecessary extras that the other Chiropractors do (such as electroshock therapy, massage tables, stretching machines, hot towels, little toys they rub up and down your back, unnecessary cracking, etc). They focus on and adjust only on the problematic areas. I've been extremely impressed & so happy I chose The Joint in Lexington, I can't thank them enough! Most highly recommend these guys!!!

I have been a member for last 4 years. I went in today to get adjusted they wanted my paperwork updated before I could be seen. There IPad kept kicking me off. I said can we do this later. Can i just get adjusted. No! You must update your paperwork first. Can you try back later. My response actually no let’s just cancel everything I’m loyal i have everything set up on draft. I come only on Tuesday so I can see Dr. Jordan. With gas 4$ a gallon I’m not making another trip. Note The receptionist says in the cancellation policy” pain under control” for reason of cancellation. Business is not appreciated. So moral of the story I canceled my membership with them and I did not get adjusted today.

Barely helped with my back issue. Do not take any "deals" they give you. It is a trap. You will not get a refund at all. Even if you do not want or need their services. If you do not live near them, just know you cannot cancel over the phone. You have to cancel in person. You can get better and more quality service at FLEX Chiropractic down the road. I will never use Joint ever again. Poor quality. Money trap.

I’m writing to express my serious concern about an incident that occurred at your Lexington Joint Chiropractic location this past Saturday, June twenty-ninth. My family and I have been loyal clients for the last four years at the Dallas, Texas locations and recently moved to Lexington, South Carolina, wanting to start going to this location. This was our first two visits here. We’ve always enjoyed our visits and I, as a fellow physician, have referred people to the Dallas location in the past, but after this treatment, I won’t be able to recommend any Joint Chiropractic locations if the problem is not resolved. When we moved, your office allowed us to be treated at Lexington location once, but staff indicated we would need to fill out annual paperwork. On our next visit we were willing to fill out paperwork but informed Christy out hope it would not take long as my wife and I swap watching the kids in the car while the other receives treatment, Christy was aggressive and unsympathetic about requiring us to fill out paperwork we hadn’t needed in four years, stating it was mandatory and they had been lenient with us last time. On this past Saturday, Christy’s tone was punitive and disrespectful toward me, my wife, and my daughter, making us feel targeted and as though she was on a power trip. Specifically, she gave my wife paperwork in English, not her native language, Portuguese, causing a long delay as she had to use Google Translate. Christy commented that my wife's and daughters words "sounded funny," mocking my wife and daughter as they communicated, and didn’t offer help fill out the form. My wife expressed to Christy that she didn’t understand the paperwork. I told Christy prior to my wife coming in we were trying to hurry because we had two kids in the car but when my wife was finished Christy still let another patient go ahead of her even though they had arrived and checked in after her. This lack of language support and unprofessional behavior prevented timely access to care, leading my wife to cancel her appointment when our daughter started crying.

Dr. Storey and Dr. Smith are both absolutely stellar. They know how to actively listen and as a result appropriately target areas of concern. The care was not accurate actually caused more damage to my back. And they are still attempting to charge me even though I do not require their service and have not in over 3 months. When I called to cancel the young person who answered told me I couldn't and they'd continue to charge my card. That is what makes it worse. Against all recommendations from friends and colleagues, I decided to try chiropractic care for general back pain with no specific issues. I initially paid for the $79 monthly plan (2 month minimum commitment) and I had several adjustments with no issues. My last visit went fine, but as the day went on, I had increased pain and decreased mobility in my neck and back. By the next morning I had an intense headache and was unable to walk comfortably or move my head without pain. These issues persisted for days and actually cost me money as I had to call out of work due to pain and limited mobility. Despite the severity of this incident, I was asked multiple times when cancelling if I would be interested in being adjusted by a different provider. I did not feel comfortable with this, and was disappointed that the only true concern was maintaining my business. They really push you to get the monthly plan, but I recommend paying out of pocket per visit so that you do not waste money as I did. I also recommend finding a chiropractic office where you can see the same provider, consistently.

Your service is not comprehensive enough for my mobility issues. Spinal alignment is great, but muscular and facia tissue needs cannot be overlooked. All three require attention on a regular basis.

Very friendly but when I tried to cancel my membership after a month of having it from not using it very often I was told I couldn’t because I had to have been there two months before I was allowed to cancel… something I was not informed of when signing up. I had also bought another membership as a gift and asked to take my card off the account something I couldn’t do even though it was my card.

Great initial experience! Christy at the front desk is witty and kind, and made the wait for my consultation into entertainment. Dr Johnson saw me for treatment. I have fibromyalgia and have chronic inflammation throughout my body. She was careful and gentle, and managed to treat my numerous sources of pain without actually triggering them. This was my first time at a chiropractor. I’m 38 years old. I was extremely nervous, did not know what to expect. Laura at the front desk was as pleasant as could be. I called a couple hours before I came, and she was great over the phone. She saw how nervous I was, while in the waiting area, and she walked up to me and showed me a video of her granddaughter. I work out a lot and started to realize I was having issues feeling the right side of my body and getting more migraines as of late. Dr. Touche (probably spelled wrong) spent the time to listen and troubleshoot with me while he worked on a plan. I walked out on day 1 standing tall and able to "feel" again. I have suffered with migraines for about 3 year now but recently developed severe muscle tightness in my shoulders and neck. After finding about The Joint Chiropractic I immediately booked an appointment for the following week. After my first visit I felt instant relief from muscles tightness in my shoulders, though I still was in pain, my pain level had decreased tremendously by the end of my visit. Dr Touchet saved my life. Literally. I had originally started going to “The Joint” for issues that arose from being in law enforcement for the previous nine years as well as the aches and pains of getting older. Within the first month I noticed the majority of pain was gone and sciatica, which had affected my right leg for years, was now obsolete. Fast forward to February 27th of this year where I severely injured my right hamstring on the job during a foot chase and fight. I had done damage to that same leg twice before and both times rehabbed it myself with as much success as one could without surgery and doctors. However this time was different. The injury had done so much damage in bruising, swelling, and bleeding that it made nearly twice the size of the left leg. Dr Touchet observed this immediately on a routine visit and was immediately concerned by not only the appearance but the high probability of a blood clot causing a stroke or worse. His concern and advice led me to see a doctor immediately as well as a physical therapy specialist. Both the doctor and specialist agreed that if not for the compassion, caring, and watchful eye of Dr Touchet that his concerns may have proved true in the very near future. I could rave all day about how the chiropractic side of this business has extended my life and career, which it has, but if not for the good Doctor there’s a strong chance that I wouldn’t had to worry about a career and life that much longer. He saved my life. Literally.

This was my first chiropractic experience. The receptionist who answered my call was extremely kind and helpful. She made me feel comfortable and welcome. Their hours of operation are extremely flexible for people’s schedules, and they are very affordable! The fact that they welcome walk-ins is absolutely amazing! Lastly, Dr. Touchet (spelling?), was informative, patient, and I could move INSTANTLY after the treatment. It was a night-and-day difference! 10/10 would recommend. Quick walk-in visits are the best! My schedule is crazy and I don’t always know in advance when I will have the time for an adjustment. I’m a new member but things have worked good each time I’ve gone to get adjusted. I wish the female doctor was there all the time because she’s the shiznit. No offense to the other doctor(s) but for me she is the best chiropractor that I’ve had. Chiropractor is definitely her calling. The staff is nice and attentive consistently. I went to the Joint Lexington on Sunset Blvd. I was having mild sciatica pain after leaving the joint I was in terrible pain for the next week at which time they instructed me to come back to have another adjustment as I had already paid for 4 visits in advance. Thing is I felt terrible and no way was I coming back. After explaining that I would need to pay for at least 2 months before canceling. I was told again to come have another adjustment, again no thanks. I have been having this sciatica pain since the first visit and was plain SCARED to go back. So now I have been charged for a 3rd month. I called in to have someone explain to me that they would not give the number to the financial Dept that's not how they work it would have to be reviewed but the person I spoke to said don't expect that I would be issued a refund but I was told that after paying for a 3rd time I would still have 4 visits for the month. All this after I explained that there's no way I'm getting back on their table after the way I felt leaving that first visit. It's been a solid 2 months and my sciatica is as bad as ever they have no compassion for my situation only a recommendation that I return to use the sessions that I've been paying for, customer service 0. I am a new member and was referred by my wife and daughter. I have had issues with numbness in my left hand due to pinched nerve. I have attended PT with little to no relief. However after 3 visual to the Joint I can feel a significant difference in the numbness in my hand. So good so far. BtW my youngest daughter took over this Gmail account ???

I have been a regular with the Joint since 2019 and have been to several locations to include others in SC. This is the first time I have ever had a negative experience. To begin, the receptionist was not polite. Rather than greeting me in a polite manner, I was immediately issued the order to mask up. I was traveling and most locations I have been to did not require masks. When I explained that I was traveling from out of state and I didn't have a mask, all I was told was "You can't be seen without a mask" rather than offering a mask, which most locations I have been to have placed out for those wishing to use a mask. I was surprised that I had to ask for a mask. He gave me a mask but he appeared to be reluctant to give one to me. After that fiasco, he then said my information hadn't been verified since 2019, which was not true and then made me redo all the paperwork as though I were a new customer. That's what the whole key scan thing is for. He should have had all the up to date information. I started to fill it out but simply didn't have the time since I was still traveling and two people were taken in front of me. Quite frankly, I had lost all desire to remain in that facility since I had been treated with such disrespect. I have no idea how good the actual doctor is since I never got the opportunity to see him. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I would never return to this location again. Keep in mind, I had no problem masking up if that's what they wished. My issue was with the he way I was treated. I felt like a second class citizen, and that they could care less whether they helped me or not. Also, keep in mind there were no mandates in the area to mask up. So I remain soar and untreated until I return home where I can be treated with respect once again.

I’ve been having back pain for 2 weeks now.The joint chiropractic closes at 7pm. I drove all the way from west Columbia to come here to have my back adjusted. When I arrive, I arrive at 6:02pm, I walk inside to be seen and the lady at the front desk says “I’m so sorry we stop taking new patients at 6pm.” NOWHERE on the website does it say, “We do not take new patients after 6pm.” Thanks a lot joint chiropractic! I love The Joint and their wellness plan. I can go for maintenance as well as when I’m having an issue and I don’t worry about breaking the bank. I love the fact that they have a monthly calendar so I can see which location my favorite doctors are working. The front desk staff are always friendly and professional and the doctors are always knowledgeable. Horrible.... if they know your not signing up for the monthly treatment plan they refuse you service or find a reason To refer you to ER... my husband ask for a simple adjustment and was told he needed to go to ER and get X-ray..... had they “thought” they had a chance of us signing up for a treatment plan they would have seen him... I had my first visit on Thursday and my second visit was today. Both times were wonderful. I’m feeling so much better, although a bit sore(to be expected) Both Drs were great! Canceled my membership after not having time to get my moneys worth. $59 x 2 for my wife. They charged $118 a month for six months after cancellation. I went in a few weeks ago and cleared everything up, then just checked my account, and they charged me again. So, I’ll be paying a visit when they reopen for the week......... they’re like A fast food chain of chiropractors. You get what you pay for!

I wouldn’t even give this place a full star. Terrible experience. Went for the first time ever. No privacy whatsoever and they just try and rush you out as fast as possible. Made my back worse than it already was. Have to go see a real doctor Now. I do not recommend anyone to go to this place. It’s a joke. They just want want your money and try and push there monthly memberships.

Incredibly rude chiropractor. I have been a customer of The Joint for years and have visited offices all over the country. Have never experienced such an unprofessional chiropractor. Never been to anything like this before. Very professional and really appreciate that they do military discounts. I was nervous that nothing would help the issues I've been dealing with for years but within 5 minutes, the guy erased 90 percent of my issue just in the first time. I have no doubt with a couple more times I will be back to normal and feeling 10 years younger! Definitely recommend this place! When I went to see the chiropractor I thought this place would be great since it is a chain. Wrong. They did not take any x-ray on my first and last visit. They did not offer any therapy. When I told the doctor I had fractured disc in my back, his response was you been adjusted before. Then he tried to sell me on a plan. The part my vist was the best was the lady working the front she was very nice.

I have a great physician to follow me and now I have a great Chiropractor. I was not informed how a Chiropractor, Dr Touché, could help. Last Thursday I was in so much pain, I called “The Joint” in Lexington. No appointment necessary. I was greeted by a polite, well-informed young lady. After 5-8 minutes, I was greeted by Dr. Touché. Today is Wednesday, I have visited The Joint 3 times. I am not crying and whining about my level 10 pain. Almost all gone- down to Level 1. I think one gets the idea how appreciative I am to this group. Affordable pain management. No opioid needed.

I've had debilitating back problems for about 5 years. They come out of nowhere sometimes, or I'll lift something the wrong way, and they reappear. When my back goes out, I can barely walk, and lifting anything is out of the question. My family doctor diagnosed it as a pulled muscle, each time, gave me pain killers, and told me to rest for 3-5 days. I found The Joint, several months ago. Dr Touchet found the problem, and lined me up. I go back at least once every 2 weeks to stay lined up. I've had minimal issues since the initial consultation. Going to The Joint has, in every sense, changed my quality of life!

I messed my neck up somehow and it was giving my headaches off and on along with some other issues. Someone recommended The Joint and so glad I tried them out today. The Dr. was very friendly and made the experience very pleasant. He was able to adjust my neck from an apparent jam. I felt immediate relief and was able to fully turn my head again. I am constantly on the go and do not have time available for long visits. I was not expecting to be in and out, especially as a first time patient. I have already recommended them to coworkers. I called to make an appointment, they tell me they are walk-in basis only.. as long as you arrive before 6pm. So, I arrive before 6pm and the receptionist says "The doctor may not see you because he already has a patient. He doesnt have time" .... Uhm, what? Why tell someone to arrive before 6pm just to turn them away once they get there? This place is a freaking joke. If you cant see multiple patients or you dont want patients to wait, then you need to start taking appointments. That is absolutely rediculous.

I had never been to a Chiroprator before. Woke up one morning and couldn’t move, back and right leg were killing me. Went to urgent care and they gave me pain pills and sent me on my way. While driving home I saw this place with a sign that showed a special for $29. I figured what the hell it won’t be the first money you wasted. After the visit I was extremely impressed. Pain immediately went away. Dr. Touchet told me to come back in a few days that it would take a few adjustments to get it to stay in place. Sure enough by the weeks end I was getting sore again. Walked in, and a few minutes later he had me pain free again. Thank you very much for your help.

So far, we’ve had good experiences with Dr. Touché, Dr. Singleton and Dr. Voelkert. Each individually bringing their own evaluation skills and treatment. I like having multiple sets of eyes evaluating me. If I were to make a recommendation, it would be nice to get on the website and find out who is working on the schedule so that I can make adjustments accordingly.

Excellent service. Dr. Touchet is very good at adjustments. I have sciatica due to L3-L4 bulge based on MRIs. I didn’t tell Dr. Touchet this. He figured it out during my initial consultation and examination. My regular doc and PT have reached the limits of their profession and seem content to leave my condition to big pharma. My issues are limiting me at the gym which, in the long term, will only compound the issues. However, since I’ve been going to The Joint, I’ve been able to run 5 to 6 miles 2 or 3 times a week again, with elliptical and stair climber on my off days. This is a miracle since I couldn’t run 2 or 3 miles without terrible pain when I first walked into The Joint. I should note I’ve been a customer for TWO WEEKS. I’ve had 5 adjustments in that time because it’s dirt cheap and I can walk in when it’s convenient for me and I’m usually out and on my way in ten minutes. With this much progress in such a short time, I’m really looking forward to the end product - a fitter, pain-free me! I should also mention that the staff is very friendly and they have a decent discount for veterans. I will be a loyal patient for as long as Dr. Touchet stays.

My sciatica nerve was killing me. I am still in the process of waiting seeing a neurosurgeon (over 2months just to get a consult). I went to see Jeff Touchet and after 4 adjustments I can function again. Before I could only stand or walk for 5 minutes without the pain get unbearable, but now, I have times where I am on my feet for 2 hours and only slight discomfort. The Joint is a good fit for me. I use it as a maintenance program - going once each week. I am able to pick up lunch (vegetarian), run by The Joint for adjustments, and still have time to eat my lunch once I get back to work all on my lunch hour! There's very little wait. My husband is a patient, too. It works for us!

As long as Touchet or the other big guy is there, I get awesome adjustments, but twice I have been there and adjusted by females, and both of them did a lousy job. Today was a new female that was a total waste of time. I've decided that from now on, I will call and find out which chiropractor is on duty before I go in.

Sadly not only are they not good at adjusting , but when you sign up for a plan if ever you want to stop it make sure you get all the paperwork because they are crooks!!! they have been taking money out of my account after I asked them not to months ago , who the hell wants to pay for a service they are not using? They neglect to tell you that when you cancel you will be charged another month. Couldn’t go because of Worker’s comp claim from fall, and they kept my payment anyway- no decency. It’s all about the $- not the person.

Dr. Touchet is one of the best chiropractors I have been treated by. I followed Dr. Touchet to the Joint just so I could continue to be under his care. These people dont adjust you correctly! They dont take the time to line you up and put you in the correct position before attempting to adjust you! My friend recommended me because she never been to a real chiropractor! Its cheap for a reason! There is a HUGE difference in the quality of care!!!
